On one hand, not sure how appropriate it is to have this conversation on this site, but so long as this thread doesn't get nuked, meh.
On the other hand, Hiro, and whoever may take over 4chan after him know that the name '4chan' or anything remotely related to it (due in part to other websites and phrases such as "chan culture" and such) is far too dirty with a very unpalatable history to most. Due to this, it's obvious that getting advertisers to return or join the website is impossible.
Not sure I ultimately care though. I frequent smaller websites like this more than 4chan lately for the sole reason that discussion and anything interesting has been null and void for years at this point unfortunately. It's almost impossible to have an alright thread on a lot of boards due to bots or schizos or just drown out any real conversation. Not that I'm looking for something super serious or whatever, but as long as the topic of the thread can remain somewhat true to itself, I'd consider it a win.
If it helps clean up some of the more popular boards so they can exist beyond just spam and low effort posting, then so be it. We're getting ourselves into a future where moderation needs to be tighter, largely due to the onslaught of bots that are constantly being release, made worse by AI models and such. But I digress, I don't care about the words themselves; if it seems to be what the bots or the retards who no one actually wants around use as somewhat of an identifier that they can be removed from the pool, then I'm on board. Back when post IDs were added, it definitely took away some of the 'feel' of 4chan, but I'd be lying if I said, at least in my eyes, that the quality of posts went up due to people being able to effortless tag and ignore people who were just there to shit up the place.
