what do you enjoy collecting? figures? movies? books? why do you collect them? i have great memories of buying movies with my dad from the bargain bins. total count is a little over 1000 now. i've spent the past few years collecting limited releases and more "collectible" editions of movies (criterion, independent releases, etc.) i like seeing what people collect, we're like birds building nests :>

Not very interesting, but I collect a lot of CDs/Vinyls. I have a couple hundred that I keep in a glass-paned record player cabinet, little wheels on it. Sometimes I like to pop out a couple and bring them with me when I'm driving somewhere on the weekend. I know spotify and music streaming apps like it have taken the place of needing a CD, but theres something about having a physical copy that modern tech can't fully replicate. Related, in Busta Rhymes' first album he has a lead-in to track 5 through track 4's end, and you can see the exact moment it swaps over. It's seamless, and it made me appreciate the editing process of making music a little more.

I have a special edition soundtrack for a game and its got disc rot setting in, i made sure to rip it but yeah... moderately upsetting

Gigachad Being careful for the most part, and keeping as much original casing as possible. The room where I keep them stays consistent in temp besides the couple of freak days we had in winter where it was in the single digits outside (even then, the cabinet is treated wood so there isnt much risk on the inside). I only handle them by the edges, no markings, pens or water or otherwise.

That being said, cd rot is sadly an inevitability since the technology itself has a shelf life. Some of the older CDs from the first boom will have begun to wear down some even in good condition. I don't think CDs will get the same treatment as vinyl going forward, but I like to be hopeful about stuff like this.

Lumeinshin Understandable. Back in the day when every car had a cd case in it I noticed some of my burned ones were rotting and they weren't very old. I was excited for the digital transfer after that. I loved my mp3 players (Zen and Zune). I wish you all the luck against it. Its sad because there is a timer on a form of media that was incredibly cool from a tech standpoint and permeated everyone's life that will just be gone.

I agree. Its unfortunate but what is in vogue can be a fickle mistress and go in strange ways.

That I own would be my warhammer aquila or my killdozer gadsden flag (Marvin Heemeyer is a hero of mine). Of all of them is a tough pick. It depends on how I feel too much. What are your favorites? My most recent one was a whiskey rebellion flag.

Gigachad My favorite by far is either my Imperial German Kriegsflagge or the Stars and Bars. But, when I get my Iroquois flag, that'll be up there too. Killdozer was kinda overrated, but I can respect a dude making a concrete coffin and driving it around wrecking stuff lol.

I'm going to get a custom flag with his quote "Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things" in the killdozer gadsden style. Kriegsflagge is cool af. I have an nsdap one. I had the stars and bars (7 star) out for two weeks before hanging up the whisky rebellion. Is your Iroquois flag the purple one with the squares? That is fucking cool as fuck and I have to get one. It's sad purple is so rare on flags. Do you fly yours outside?

And yes, it's the purple one!! Natives are super cool. I also have a bunch of confederate flags since I love their design, like the 2nd and 1st flags of theirs. OH, and I also added a soviet rescue ops flag to the collection but I haven't hung it up yet (pic rel).
I hang them up inside since I don't want them wearing and tearing, although I'm running out of wall space. >_<
TBH, I think any kind of flag with actual designs and ornate details is above flags that are simply tricolored, and then African and some Caribbean flags are my least favorites since I do not like their color selections. Hbu?

It was either Gigachad or Gandilf the muscle wizard. I have a sonnenrad too. I see what you mean by any flag with details is ok but you really should look at US city flags before you say that. It's like a competition for shit flag designs. I got lucky and my city has one of the few good designs. I hang all mine (except the nsdap and sonnenrad) outside. I've gotta be the weird flag guy everybody looks at as they drive by. Meme flags included. Tricolor can be ok if you have a collective that uses it like the Nordic countries and their cross. Although Central europe kinda fails at this. I really like the heraldry on old flags or even flags like the German states (I only use them as an example cause I know what their flags look like).

My dad always said that I collected collections when I was growing up, so I guess this is a great thread to go from lurker to poster. Like many others in this thread I own a lot of books. It's nice to be able to borrow them to friends and then talk about it after. Or whenever I get the urge to reread something it's right within my reach.

One of my most peculiar collections, I think, is my teaware collection. I don't have a recent collective picture, but you guys can have a snap of one set for now.

I'm not really an active collector but I do have a fair number of artbooks. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit a lot of gallery's and museums when I was a teenager so its mostly traditional artists, but I also have a few anime art books I picked up from conventions.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo of my shelf on hand, but it is kinda funny to see Rembrandt next to Range Murata.
