Gigachad Being careful for the most part, and keeping as much original casing as possible. The room where I keep them stays consistent in temp besides the couple of freak days we had in winter where it was in the single digits outside (even then, the cabinet is treated wood so there isnt much risk on the inside). I only handle them by the edges, no markings, pens or water or otherwise.
That being said, cd rot is sadly an inevitability since the technology itself has a shelf life. Some of the older CDs from the first boom will have begun to wear down some even in good condition. I don't think CDs will get the same treatment as vinyl going forward, but I like to be hopeful about stuff like this.
