Heretic i'm mainly just tired of how political everything's gotten.
Yeah, I miss when politics were considered boring old people stuff, now its pushed into everything and it successfully divided the internet and its too late to reverse it.
I literally don't care, my politics is whatever pisses off those that can't keep to themselves about it, I'm not interested, stop bothering me already, you're the problem if you can't respect that.
Ross_R I like the local russophobic crowd, liberals who hate our government, yet fail to see the exact same moves and approaches done by the western government.
One of my friends thinks that it is possibly better in Europe, and I constantly tell him that even if it is - it's not much better.
And, frankly, that's what scares me the most: the whole thing is worldwide. Well, save for underdeveloped countries, of course. The first world is going the same way down, and it is frankly rather horrifying.
Even if I pick only the some points of your posts to reply to, I all in all can sign under your every word, since everything you speak about - I can see the exact same things here. And I read and hear the exact same things from other people from all over the globe. That's daunting.
💯
Ross_R I managed to get, like, 6K subs, but they mean nothing: they all came when algorithm favored one of the videos I uploaded way long time ago, which, ironically, has nothing to do with the main theme of my channel.
YT is not worth dealing with, at least on the alternatives you know any views you may get are going to be legitimate, not spambots, missclicks, people who hoped the video was something else.
Ross_R And talking to my microphone has therapeutic qualities. I guess it streams from the fact that I'm lonely as fuck, but, still, it helps.
I like to talk to myself a lot too.
Ross_R On the bright side, I did meet several people. One became a dear internet friend of mine,
I guess its like the online equivalent of "going out" or whatever people suggest to make friends, maybe I should try.
Ross_R Part of the need for my own site comes from the fact that I write in my own language.
No point doing anything in my language, or most languages that aren't english really, maybe like japanese or something at most if you're from/interested in topics heavily tied to a langue other than english, its like limiting yourself to only IRL stuff, absolutely no reason to do basically that just online, especially for niche shit, just guarantees nobody will ever find it. Nobody should have to bother with language barriers anymore, serves no actual purpose, its just a tool and english is the most effective, easy and widely adopted tool, just use good tools to make cool stuff with than worry about the tools. Well it used to be less bad, ironically when the web was smaller, it felt way bigger when people had their own sites or at least blogs and forums were alive, it was easier to find local sites and mattered more when everything was more limited to being local, no international shipping, etc. now everyone is online, well on social media, and everyone posts 1:1 the exact same shit regardless of where they're from, which also means the rot managed to spread pretty much everywhere, dominance of social media enforced all the US's censorship and other negative aspects of their current culture onto the entire world.
Ross_R This also make me want to point out that back in the days people could leave their whole lives without tech and traditions changing much. Which allowed them to be, like, a proper part of life.
Nowadays in just 20 years the world is very different from the one that I grew up in.
Yeah, it seems to be pretty widely accepted that things are changing too fast now, and most often without good reason too.
Ross_R The only thing that pains me is the knowledge that if I am to die tomorrow, all my data, all my HDDs which I so cared about - pretty much a good chunk of my life would be discarded, unneeded by anyone. Ah, well, feels like we've just talked about this part...
I got a Blu-ray writer recently even though its basically a dead format soon and its not great value and pretty small now. In part just to have one while they're still being made and in part because its important to have offline archival copies for long term preservation. Like when im backing up my parents stuff, if the HDDs were still of usable capacity by todays standards years ago I would've seen no issue wiping them, now I never could, and CDs I can't and because its inconvenient to keep changing them I have a more reason to actually look through them, honestly most of it is not too interesting but I also found some great stuff, definitely keeping everything though. So I'll write some blu-rays of my own with the expectation that aside from periodic verification hopefully I won't even be the one to actually look through them as the only way to that data but whoever may get to them will be actually forced to look and maybe find something valuable or at least keep it as is or give it to someone who might care more, because probably for quite a few years to come I wouldn't be able to blame someone for wanting to format and reuse 20TB HDDs without a second thought. Just imagine how much more stuff would be lost if owning media/storage never became mainstream in the past, or owning nearly anything like how its increasingly promoted today, if people were fine with only listening to live music, reading/watching rentals exclusively, etc and somehow we actually went back to that. Its weird to think about how there is actually gonna be a gap in history starting from like 2010 since when nothing survived except what companies considered profitable and popular enough to keep around.
It makes everything feel so much more meaningless now, in the past people used to own and leave behind functional houses/cars/appliances/books/photos/tapes now most of that is probably a rental, what do you even work for, what will you leave behind now? A 3 year old phone "Incorrect Face ID iPhone disabled Reset available from iCloud Notifications: News - Breaking News Apple files for bankruptcy Settings - Can't verify subscription status cloud data has been reset"?
