Turkey as a main course on a holiday is unparalleled. As a lunch meat however, it's pretty subpar.

Anyway none of this matters because the best sandwich is clearly the Reuben. Corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian/Thousand Island Dressing toasted on rye. Genuinely, what more could you want?

For me, it's the Cuban Sandwich. A real one. Ham, salami, mojo pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, mayo, pickles, on Cuban bread. Traditionally hot pressed, but if the bread is super fresh you should get it cold. I've seen people add tomatoes or lettuce or Kraft singles when they make Cubans and it irks me every time.

As someone who only recently started eating meat, I haven't even tried most of the meat-featuring sandwiches. That aside, I will die on my hill that cheese and tomato on white bread is the best sandwich there is. So easy and quick to make, very few and common ingredients, a perfect and eternal combination.

Italian sandwiches are the best. Turkey has a weird flavour, and chicken is dry with an awful aftertaste. They are only good when cut into chunks and have some sort of wet sauce on them too. If they are sliced like deli meat, I refuse to eat them.
When I am at home I use mayonnaise, deli pepperoni, and either swiss or gouda cheese on bolillo bread.

I've been Frying up some sandwich meats and an egg, then putting some pepperjack cheese and hot sauce on mine lately. I should probably find some arugala or spinnach to round it out and not be as unhealthy now that I've typed that out.

I have been obsessed with cottage cheese lately, so I ate a lot of cottage cheese jam sandwiches with whatever fruit slices I have at the moment.

These would be such a great sandwich, if they were more filling. I can eat four of them at once and still have enough room for chips on the side. Once I had dinner made for me, and it was just one BLT. I had to leave and grab more food an hour later.

BLTs are amazing with mayonnaise, especially if you put on a slice of avocado as well.

What kind of bread do you use, and which jam is best? I've never heard of this kind of sandwich before. I like cottage cheese too and I'd like to try this.

I'm going to try this the next time I make one.

Pickled herring on crispbread is tough to beat. You’re supposed to eat it with aged cheese but I rarely go that far.

Doc I am not a sandwich police, so whatever bread that is on sale (usually whole wheat and split top wheat) and any kind of jam will work. I am trying to be healthier, so I have replaced jam with fresh fruits instead. So far I have had success with raspberries (probably my favorite), strawberries, bananas, mango, and peaches. Remember to drizzle with cinnamon.

gingermilk Thank you. I'll grab the ingredients next time I go grab groceries.

A grilled cheese with bacon and tomato is my go-to.

Or (If I'm struggling) I'll put mayo on white bread, add turkey slices, american cheese, thick cut tomato slices with some salt, and then some potato chips before crowning my king.

Also I think there should be a food tag of something.

Some ham/salami and cheese makes a simple and tasty panini sandwich. I have a panini press that I've been using for many years.

damas I love paninis! I make mine by pressing the sandwich between two skillets, since I don't have a press. I prefer grilled cheese and egg myself, however.

I've had some good sanwhiches. ones in particular I would like to try again is from Vermont. Its a cold sub of either ham or turkey with all the fixings, along with fresh crisp green apple slices. Was curious how it would taste and I was surprised how well balanced it actually was. its supposedly one of their signature dishes or at least regionally.

I recently rediscovered the joy of the simple ham sandwhich, after not having eaten ham for maybe 13 years. Simplicity is often enough.
