Hello sheep. 🐑🫵
Do you sleep well at night? Or do you toss and turn and wake up feeling more tired than before?
As a chronic insomniac I’ve always had trouble getting a full night’s worth of sleep. I’ve tried various things over the years, and some have helped.
Among supplements, I do NOT recommend melatonin. It’s easy to develop a tolerance for it, at which point you need to increase your dose to feel any effect. It also is generally not that effective - sleep quality suffers on melatonin and people on higher doses can experience nightmares.
Unisom, while effective, leads to spooky DPH like effects. It’s very easy to sleep for 10+ hours using it, but the next day is basically wasted in a groggy stupor. (Anyone here seen /r/DPH? Creepy stuff!)
Magnesium is very good. It’s a natural supplement, something in which most people are deficient (although perhaps this is marketing…). I feel like I can experience a clear uptick in sleep quality after starting magnesium, but it’s hard to be objective or quantify these thoughts.
Sleeping with a weighted blanket is GOD tier, and I heartily recommend it for everyone. The weight is comfortable and keeps the heat uniform, while also acting as a seal to keep out cool air. These all make it far easier to fall asleep.
anything else you all have tried?
