These last few weeks, I've been getting relatively decent sleep compared to last year. For reference, I'd get maybe 2-3 hrs of decent sleep, and maybe an hour of rest before work, whereas now I'm getting at least 5-6 each night, but sometimes 8-9, including a 1ish nap pre-work. I'll take what you said about magnesium in mind, I've been using cbd/melatonin gummies on nights where I need to sleep pretty soon after getting home. I haven't had too much trouble with it, but I also usually stretch and do some sets with a 15lb dumbbell. Helps me forget about things for the day.
A dream journal sounds cool. Maybe something I can type out and leave on the desktop front page? I almost always check my computer before I go to bed.
