MO I used to browse /r9k/ a lot in my adolescent years, safe to say it didnt do me any favors. It might be (one of) the worst board(s) on 4chan currently. The only fun anon I remember from there was someone who used to post daily Rei Running Gif threads. I miss him.

gingermilk Nothing necessarily wrong with sites/communities being niche. Yeah, it makes them harder to find, but the tradeoff is worth it in my opinion, since it usually contributes to a better userbase.

Yeah the way the header works it doesn't accept JavaScript so I just change it manually. Otherwise I'd have like 100. I'll have to look into redoing it some time

It's a mega minor thing and I know that there are other ways to get to the main page, but the banner at the top of the page should really link to the main page. I think it's kind of the standard by now and I instinctively keep clicking on it to go back.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, do you mean the banner with the rotating images/ads I do?
I can make it link to the home page, although if I'm honest I was working in the background on self serve ads so if they were set up properly that'd link to whatever the ad banner is for, at least that was my plan. Although I could have it be image only.. Idk I'll continue to think and work on it

Lumeinshin Yeah, I mean the Sheepish Patio banner. It just seems intuitive to me that if I click on the Sheepish Patio banner I'd get taken to the Sheepish Patio, you know?

Yeah I getcha, I usually use the desktop site/webapp so I click the header logo.
If I do pursue the whole 'having an ad banner at the top' thing it won't go to the homepage anymore, so if you could break the habit it would be beneficial
I will change it so those banners link to the homepage soon™ when I'm on my desktop

I think it would be a good idea to make the youtube videos that were linked to appear smaller in threads to make them look cleaner and scrolling through them easier.

figured i'd write a little update here since its still (relatively) early in the month
Got a couple new ideas for chat related implementations.
Would a simple IRC shoutbox be desired? I have an idea of an easy implementation, just gotta see if it persists. Otherwise I could do something via XMPP. I do technically already have an xmpp server

I am working on a profile-comments extensions, although I need to set up a test environment really for any development work. would that be something that would be of interest? any other features like that. Bear in mind however i'm not really a programmer, I just cobble together bits, and i've been having the various AI chatbots check over parts.

I think the placement of the chatbox is important.
It'd have to be at the top of the page or something, easily accessible to all people
or maybe on a sidebar but that'd be annoying

2024 edition of the community feedback thread

There was the original Forum Features and such thread from when the site first started, but I think this probably fills this role as well.
here are some suggestions for feedback suitable for this thread

Tag Suggestions, entirely new tags, sub-tags for existing ones or refinements to them to make things clearer
Emote reaction suggestions
Feature requests
Other communities that would be worth reaching out to for whatever reason
Community events/ideas of that sort
Forum related services/sites that could be hosted

I may take the suggestion and make it its own thread if it warrants it!

What would be your opinion on "random thread" button on this site?
It would just take you to some random thread from this page.
While I dont know how effective it would be I think it might spark some life in older threads since now you have to either dig trough the front page, go trough tags or search directly.
Personally id use this feature once in a while to see if ill get a thread that interests me.
but hey thats just a theory a game theory
