just like others mentioned, I have pretty much stopped consuming anime and mangas.
Hell last time I watched an anime was edgerunners 1st episode and before that its been few years since i watched/read anything.
Rn the only content I consume basically consists of youtube recommending like a clip from dbz or smth.

Watched The Cat Returns today and now I'm almost depressed. I get this feeling of a profound, genuine sadness pretty much every time I touch something genuinely good and kind. Without a doubt because of the stark contrast with my reality...
Maybe I just shouldn't have positive things and stick to racing and, I don't know, DOOM or whatever. Really, The Cat Returns made me wanna drink. And I do just that. So... I guess it was good. Do recommend, or something...

Been trying to continue the Overlord LNs, but tbh I don't really feel like the story has gone anywhere interesting. I have been watching Delicious in Dungeon and am enjoying it, but other than that I have not had as much tjmw foe anime these days.

too much shit to sift through, but i do enjoy the rare good series that comes by every year or so.

I recently rewatched KonoSuba and caught up with the movie and third season. I've very much enjoyed it and come to like all of the characters.
I do wonder where its going though (yes I know there is the light novels, maybe i'll read them in future)
My favourite characters are probably Aqua and Darkness.. and maybe Vanir 😆

I loved Chio's school road. The beach chapter iirc is where Chio and Ando's relationship really kicks off ,which I like. There's not much left so you might as well finish it.

Saw Kowarekake no Orgel, a one-episode OVA about someone who finds an obsolete model cyborg. It's got a nice sense of transience over a summer break, and I certainly liked the way it's able to quickly produce a detailed domestic portrait in the way it does. On account of its length it does feel perhaps limited, if this were a full movie or 12-episode series, then there's a lot of different angles that it could have emphasised in more detail, but it's got a lot of personality and I liked what I got.

I recently bought VHS tapes for the Patlabor OVAs and The Vision of Escaflowne anime. It's fun streaming them to my friends while using a capture card, everyone cheers when I have to rewind the tapes back to the start since it takes forever and it has the fun film artifacting that happens. Oh! And the intro sequences before the shows start where the small publishers showcase their current lineup of tapes of Japanimation available. It's a fun time!

I've been rereading Dance in the Vampire Bund recently. It was one I read when I was a lot younger and has been interesting to read thru with older eyes. I never read the sequel series so i'm hoping to do that, although i'm not entirely sure whether they'll be good or not.

Linnart Ooh VHS tapes! How do you find they are to have and enjoy? I buy music cassettes but haven't really got any VHS tapes, is it similar where you shouldn't run into issues with getting stuck/jammed so long as you have a well looked after player?

sanner Uzumaki is good for sure. Definitely one of the weirder manga's out there and not "scary" but definitely has a unique chilling vibe.

just picked up "uzumaki" from the library. finished it in what felt like 30 minutes but i looked at the time and it had already been 2 hours! the story is really well paced (with the exception of 1 chapter) and depending on how you interpret the story i think the ending is really sweet. ito really knows how to draw in his audience

Lumeinshin They're great! Honestly better quality, especially sound, than I remember when using them as a kid. Maybe watching recorded videos online of VHS captures that were badly done over the years made me forget. As long as your player remains functional so that it doesn't harm the tape, and you keep them in a non-humid area they should be alright as far as I know. Thankfully most tapes and players are relatively cheap compared to the gaming space for things of that time.

magicrabbit Could very well be the case. For me, it's also about this looming pressure of "productivity," I'd like to think of myself as an industrious person hence it becomes increasingly difficult to justify leisure/recreation that does not "contribute" to my development.

I would recommend Tower Dungeon, it's by Tsutomu Nihei the guy who made Blame, BioMega, Aposimz, etc. His art style has changed drastically and it's really welcome from his previous work Aposimz which I found went in a worse direction art wise. I'm enjoying it. Simultaneously I'm reading Hyougemono, which is quite fun and enjoyable. It's basically a historical-fiction manga following the life of Furuta Oribe who was an aesthete lower daimyo obsessed with teaware and the tea ceremony during the entire Sengoku Jidai. Basically covers the whole period, although with an ahistorical albeit funny overemphasized importance on tea or teaware. Art is good, and it has some funny panels.

But since i've been waiting for it to be translated, I started reading other male yandere manga/manwha and I found 2 that I really really love
Red Fox by Hama TW: rape, abuse, gore, incest

Very fucked up. Basically trauma porn, but it's executed well. The art is rough in the beginning but it's worth it.
Desuge Imouto by Inaida Sou TW: incest, but step siblinbs so not really(?)

Not as nearly as fucked up as Red Fox, but it's still very good. The ML is a psychopath from a manga series (yes its otome isekai) with murderous urges, and the protag is his younger step-sister whose goal is to prevent him from killing. Highly recommend.

I tried reading that red fox book and its sequel. It was fucked up enough that I just skipped around to the end. I didn't really understand the ending (shocker!). I'd appreciate your help clarifying the plot

So the fox demands the kids liver and fails to get it, but then falls in love with the kid and kidnaps her by marrying her? And then time skip stuff happens and they live together or smth? What's this thing at the end with the guy having dream sex with the princess? Stunning art (even the beginning!) but I just have no stomach for ladies suffering even if they stockholm fall in love later

I just realized that post was a year ago. I guess I'll just have to take a closer eye then. Female erotica is wild man. I read a book last year called Blood of Hercules and man, all I can say is what the fuck. Especially the ending. I'll leave it secret for now but if anyone asks, I'll spill the plot. After a fairly long period of not really watching anything i've reintroduced watching an episode or two of something into my life.
I rewatched and caught up with re:Zero as well as watched some The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party, Is, in Fact, the Strongest.
I mostly consider these ones designed as pure power fantasy to be slop but they do make alright "i'm going to bed in a minute" watches"

The first season of RE:Zero was as much of a rollercoaster as i remembered it and I think a really great season. The second was better than i remembered it and I think tied in nicely with a lot of the questions of the first. This third season i'm not so sure on yet, we'll just have to see where it goes.

I'm enjoying the recent controversy over the new SJ manga Drama Queen. Is it going to play the "anti-immigration/colonialism" thing straight or will it go like some of the author's other works and and see the main character become "deradicalized"?
