There are multiple of the IP posts floating around.
The Israel top one I have seen listed as "outdated" and another with them being around the 20th highest.
I don't know which is the real one and which isn't. Right now I'm taking both as fake. The hacker guy the did the PDF stuff mentioned nothing about it and I haven't personally gone through the leak and probably won't to verify anything.
Someone with more motivation will and will provide proof other than a simple screen grab.

It seems as every year goes by the site degrades in quality and fluctuates throughout its post cycles, especially now considering the amount of shitposters/bots. as someone whos been lurking the site for more than a decade its always been the same as in its both a shitty place and also one of the funniest/interesting places on the internet to read stuff. /sp/ always gets a laugh outta me.

Incredibly sad. Wondering if it will ever come back, and if it does wondering who will even return and if it will even be the same. If this is the end, it died in the most 4chan way possible. Possibly the end of an era.

I wasted too much of my life there, and /v/ was almost irredeemably bad, but I was enjoying the Linux Gaming General threads on /vg/ and I have no replacement for those. For that reason alone, I hope the doomsayers are wrong.

The site will probably come back by virtue that it's profitable for Hiro to run. I'd say I miss it but the truth is I haven't seen creative posting there in some years, the last time I truly enjoyed a board was /biz/ back in the 2017-2021 era when it was affecting internet culture with new memetic contributions.

I use both 4chan and reddit, but avoid Twitter and tumblr(outside of following artists, but I never engage in the platform). I feel like a huge hole would be left with spontaneous and very niche discussions if 4chan were to die, even if the site was much better 15+ years ago.

Never understood places like TikTok or Instagram. Just doomscrolling I guess, mindless and without any real social interaction. But I never liked streamers or vtubers either and influencers feels even faker and gayer

If/when Hiro shocks the site back into life, I wonder if it will ever really be the same. I feel like now that it's happened once, copycats will be common. And I don't know, but it feels like this is the symbolic death of 4chan, one way or another.

sonoko I imagine it'll be the exact same but with the known vulnerabilities patched up. The people posting on the site might be different and that could be a good thing. If the site is down for 20-30 days like I've been seeing as an estimate that is long enough to break a lot of habitual posting. It's easy to see people moving on and finding new places and not feeling a need to go back.

The site hasn't felt the same for me either, and admittedly, I found it to be quite repetitive, though this might vary from board-to-board dynamics.
On /r9k/ for instance, it was just the same whining and insipid and needless pornography, not a fan at all.

From a technical standpoint, it's marvelous how it hadn't been hacked sooner, PHPMyAdmin as the DB interface and the it being operated and written entirely in PHP? Yeah, this was bound to happen in my opinion. Inevitable.

It's going to be interesting to see how this might affect the wider intarwebz similar to that Tumblr debacle a few years back, although I think that 4chan's modern userbase is too small to really be noticeable on most of the "big few" websites we all are stuck on now.
I'm quite the newfag, I only started intermittently lurking between 2014-2018, and only became a regular in 2019-2021 maybe, so this is just going off of the dust of internet history, but 4chan really used to be much more influential cultural space online from what I can tell, and not in the awful /pol/ way you could argue it has now. I suppose it could just be that internet culture was absorbed by whatever "global culture" the world has developed with modern SNS. Most people will just seep through into various big social medias and become ironically far more faceless than they ever were.
I found a freshly registered account of a /pol/fag, talking to no one about all the typical stuff. I imagine many people from that board will end up like him. At best, lots of insular discord groups; those really can't be escaped anymore.
