Probably not cool that all images in the first post are under a spoiler, so here's another one.
Just yesterday I had a horrific/awesome idea to use a power metal album cover as a texture for a bike in a video game. That way I've ended up with a dozen of metal albums, and none of those covers fit the texture, so I've had to resort to the "AI" to generate one. I'm still not comfortable about that.
But, on a positive note, I've found a lot of pseudo-80's covers, and those are awesome in my opinion. I love stuff like that. I didn't think that the 80's revival hit the metal scene as well - somehow I was sure Gloryhammer was a peculiar exception, but turns out it is kind of a trend. Ever Dragonforce had an album like that.

And one more with a mild NSFW again.

This last band specifically has a song named Cadillacs And Dinosaurs. If you read those comics / played that video game / saw that animated show - yea, it's a total blast from the past. Very awesome.

I have wanted to buy and scan that album for the longest time since I have never found good scans online anywhere. Don't know anyone with a scanner so I'd have to find someplace that does it.

I also have one album I want to buy purely because of the artwork. This one:

This is, obviously, not quite such an intricate artwork as the one you've provided, but I still just love it a lot. It is quite simple in comparison, but at the same time it's a top-notch classic sci-fi fantasy art. And the photo above is about the best example you can find online. I definitely need it scanned. Hopefully I will be able to locate a copy in good condition. The music inside is too slow and light for my tastes, but, boy, do I want that artwork in good quality.

Those do look quite neat indeed. First time I hear about that band as well. With covers like those, I gotta give their music a try.

As a result, I've been listening to a lot of Eloy as of recently. IMO, they really shine during their 80's period. Listened to Performance, Ra and Metromania so far - and all of those were rather awesome. Definitely going to listen at least to Time To Turn and Destination to top it off.
70's albums were not that impressive for me, albeit I guess I'm biased, since I'm solidly hooked on the 80's synth sounds.

Ross_R If prog and space rock are your cup of tea, then you're going to enjoy Eloy. The vocalist maybe isn't the best and he has a thick german accent, but me personally, I've come to like his singing.

I've always been a big fan of the cover of Destroyer by Kaputt. The album itself is alright - not really my cup of tea - but the cover just scratches some itch in my brain. picrel

Kind of a basic pick; but by God, did Storm Thorgerson make some absolutely stunning album covers. Frances the Mute and Wish You Were Here are probably my favorites of his. Amazing albums, too.

I quite love the cover art for Karl Richter's performance of the Mass In B Minor

Just has a immediately striking and cool look to it, it certainly stands out among cover arts of most Classical music recordings. It also fits the heavily romantic and bombastic interpretation that this recording contains.

Ross_R Glad to hear you enjoyed them! I haven't listened to Metromania and Ra (I guess I should change that), but their other 80's stuff I can say that is very good indeed. Although I'm more of a fan of the 70's.
