I've had a lot of cars, most of them being Japanese and my main daily is a '22 Impreza.
Lately though, I've really been wanting something with more character and fun/cheap to wrench on when it needs it. I also wanted something huge. Several different cars/platforms came to mine but I ultimately decided I wanted something from the Panther Platform.
I found this beast for $700 and it runs and drives. It needs some TLC but this thing is so much fun to cruise around. I never really got the appeal of giant land yachts, but I think I'm starting to. It's just so smooth and cushy and you can really notice the sound deadening they pack in these. The doors slam shut like the cliche 'bank vault doors' - super solid. Going down the road is noticeably quieter that anything I'm used to - even my 2-3 year old Impreza I bought new.
My plan for this car is to just bring it back to 100% operation. Before I bought it, it was sitting since 2020. The owner was putting little bits of gas in it and running the engine every several months, but I'd still like to go through and do all the fluids and maintenance items. The sunroof needs to fixed, it was taken out and not put back in all the way, will probably just get a new rail setup and do what I can. Beyond that I have some car audio gear sitting around that will be used for a little SQ build.
I get this is not going to be a popular car on this corner of the internet, but this thing is dope. It's loosely a poverty LS400 and arguably every bit as stout. I could really see myself finding a BaT-tier example of one of these some day.
