I had a conversation with my dad the other day about what the most "classic sandwich" is.
I was thinking 'peanut butter and pickle' but he seemed pretty adamant that most people wouldn't have even have heard of that. That's crazy to me. I probably had thousand of them before I finished high school, and he was probably the one that made the first few hundred. Is this a well-known sandwich?

Maybe I should have said 'peanut butter and jam' or 'ham and cheese'?

Somnolence I've definitely never heard of a PB&Pickles, whereas I've heard of a PB&J, but that's mostly an American thing from what I know. I'd give my bet to grilled cheese or cheese and ham.

I love a good tuna melt

i love sandwiches! i eat many types of them. ham and swiss, tuna sandwiches, egg sandwiches (both Japanese style and scrambled/fried eggs), pb&j, BLT, chicken bacon ranch. i'll even go for something like a cuban or monte cristo if i'm really wanting something out of the ordinary. i don't really have a favorite i don't think, as it really depends on what i'm in the mood for. i have a pretty varied taste. 🙂

Somnolence i've never heard of anyone ever eating a peanut butter and pickle sandwich until now... what the hell LOL. i mean, as long as you like it i suppose.

A tofu sandwich with cheese and mayonnaise can never go wrong.
And before you ask, YES, it is on wheatbread.

I was not going to ask if it was on wheat bread. I've never even thought about a tofu + mayonnaise sandwich being an option for a sandwich.

If I personally had one sandwich right now I'd want a hard fried egg, no runny yolk, a nice slice of american cheese, a thick piece of ham, thinly sliced green peppers, and some spinach. Loads of black pepper grinded on the egg during cooking.
Slap these on a sourdough bagel or a croissant.

I've not had the chance to actually have one yet, but I've spent a long time thinking about the po' boy. I guess fried shrimp on bread wouldn't be that difficult to make myself, but I'd prefer to see how the pros handle it before I try.

Never understood the hate for tomato slices.

I came to say I dislike sandwiches.
              I'm a proud sandwich disenjoyer :0)

LOWnHA I can't speak for anyone else, but I just can't stand raw tomato. Salsa, pasta sauce, ketchup, that's all great (though not necessarily in sandwiches); but raw tomato has to be one of the worst vegetables. I'd even take a slice of raw potato over it.

Somnolence I would sink 90% of all global landmass into the Earth for a slice of raw tomato. Agree to disgaree.

Having a good dill pickle on the plate adds a lot to a cuban. My favorite sandwich too, though very hard to find my part of the continent, there's only one shop that makes them near me.
