Love me rpgs, but i've been playing shooties lately, really got into cod a couple of days ago, right now i'm playing dying light cause i'm bored, it's pretty good, might pick up dead island 2 when I get a chance.

Ive ended up buying a lot on the steam sale
I bought and ended up refunding sonic frontiers, the game was just buggy enough to annoy me and I wasnt really feeling the overall gameplay.
I ended up going on the great for deck section and grabbing some games there, hades, the lego star wars complete saga, mini ninjas, shakedown Hawaii and stuff like that

Some fairly little games that'll run well on deck, hopefully I play them all lol
I'd already played hades a year or so ago and it was definitely a good game

I bought Hades when it was early access on the Epic Store.
It's the only game I bought from them, and it was worth it. Hades is a very good game. I wish they didn't opt to make a Hades 2 though. The studio had never done a sequel before, and I like that a lot. Firm believer that new IP are always better than sequels.

Unrelated, but i've been doing Brain Training (The original on DS), specifically trying to get the brain age better, to just generally help myself. I'm getting better... but not enough to say the number! 😆

Lumeinshin I think nowadays, even if I wanna play a long story game or RPG or whatnot, I dont give myself the free time to do so. So for me roguelikes are the thing I spend more time with
I've been playing devil spire lately. I need to play more to decide whether I REALLY like it, but its a neat dungeon crawler in the vein of something like daggerfall or kings field.

Man, I feel this so much. I cannot even start anything long, as I'm thinking: "Well, I need several days to finish that and I definitely won't be free tomorrow", and so I'm sticking to the short games as well.
The rare ocassion when I'm actually able to get into a longer game though... it is marvelous. Like, about 9 month ago I've played a game for about 3-4 days straight. A small indie title named Pine - I've spent whole day in it, went to sleep, woke up and went straight back into the game and, man, it was quite incredible. I've, like, felt a touch of my younger self, when I could just immerse myself into the virtual world without a care in the world.
And it really doesn't feel right to jump into a proper RPG, with all the characters and lore for just an hour or two. You gotta be there for a while to feel it, dude.

It extends past games into other projects so I shouldn't be too surprised
For RPGs tho I definitely wanna be able to no-life it for a couple days

Indeed. A lot of personal projects just lying around with no time for them.
For me it gets a lot worse when I'm on the regular job. I have no idea how people with a job are able to do anything but their job. In part it is also because I'm having a hard time switching between different tasks.

So allegedly capcom is adding new DRM to their own games.
And apparently it is being implemented to prevent people from using cheat engine or modding their games.
Which is a shame because recently ive been playing pirated copy of RE2make and actually enjoying the game.
Even considered purchasing the game. But if this situation is true then ill stick to using pirated copies of their games.
Note most of the shit i hear is from /v/ so take it with a grain of salt.

I've been playing death must die, which is a vampire-survivor like with some more RPG elements, armour drops and some minor inventory management. It's alright and does fill the 'something mildly fun to play whilst watching youtube' void that afflicts everyone my age these days.
I've also been playing Pseudoregalia, a fun MetroidVania 3d Platformer type game, lots of backtracking and getting new abilities to help with platforming. Its a fun little game that has a bit of jank sometimes. The dev is a furry though so be weary of anything community related you see 😆

1996FordMondeo Yeah I saw that RE:Revelations was on sale and it'd been review bombed due to the DRM. I did see a post from capcom on the game saying they'd "Reverted the previous update" but didnt specify anything about the DRM issue

pizza kid I cant think of anything off the top of my head. There's gotta be a RPGMaker series or something that'd be a good fit, although most of the high quality ones are the ones that have a psychology/mental focus. I'll keep an eye out.
I think there is Eiyuden Chronicles that came out last year but I think its got mixed reviews

They've been adding file protection since at least Street Fighter IV. Anything will be cracked, just as it was before. Best of luck to Capcom; I reckon they will only be successful at rising even more ire towards the big VG companies of today. Which is a good thing.

The thing is this. Based on what ive read this DRM isnt to prevent piracy. capcom has been already adding denuvo for that.
This DRM is added to prevent users from modding their games and allegedly they have started adding it to their old games via updates.
Now there is a lot of he said she said on /v/ and I am not autistic enough to properly read trough all those threads, so I am trying to take things with a grain of salt.
But as someone who likes modding the games I will be waiting until more definitive evidence comes out before buying capcom games.

That's what I'm saying, mate. Street Fighter IV had a file that prevented file modification, unless you've hacked said file. So Capcom games has been protected against mods for a long time.
Even then, it is only a new story for PC. A lot of console games had files checks of various kinds for hell knows how long.
It all can be circumvented, but it definitely will make life more uncomfortable.
I mean, you like modding games? Man, I love modding games.

Now this is not even an issue. Just do not update. There's no need to update your old game.
I do not know if it is a Steam problem - I do not use Steam - but if it is a Steam problem, I say it's good. Maybe it will alienate more people towards Steam along the way.
Make no mistakes, Steam is DRM itself.

I'm a casual gamer (and heavenforbid, a nintendie) and I don't play as much games anymore. I used to be really into RPGs, mostly JRPG, and was super obsessed with the Shin Megami Tensei series. I don't play that many multiplayer games except for TF2 and COD.

Anyway, any of you know a good indie RPG game? (and please, no more depression mental illness allegory bollocks although mere mentions of it is still a-okay).

So, you, like, have two monitors? Or just a monitor and a phone? I'm rather curious about the whole process, really. It sounds so... dystopian for me.

Ross_R its definitely a zoomer brainrot thing, I've got two monitors at the moment, but yeah sometimes i'll stick some video or podcast on and also play a game or do something else at the same time. Ofc if its a game it cant be a super story heavy game so you get these kinds of games that dont require much in the way of investment emotionally that work quite well for this purpose. I tend to also watch youtube or listen to audiobooks/podcasts etc at a higher speed as well.

I agree. I will almost always play music when gaming, the only exception is when its a story game that I want to concentrate on or if the soundtrack of the game is a banger by itself. Otherwise its spotify on max volume.

Yea, can't ever imagine doing this unless I'm following a tutorial, playing a game AND watching youtube makes me think of those videos (micro rant) with Family Guy videos in the background, like incase your attention span wasn't big enough to just have one video playing, nooo, you need someone squishing sand or subway surfers or GTA car parkour ect. Idk how gen alpha is going to actually function in society.

Well, yeah, obviously, but I can't imagine myself even playing arcades while watching YouTube...
The closest I've ever had was having a small TV above my monitor at some point of my life in 2000's, but I cannot say I've actually watched it. On ocassion I've turned it on as a... background noise or something. If something interesting came up, I could've make a pause and switch to TV, but both at the same time sound... kinda very... awkward... and somewhat cool in a dystopically-cyberpunky kind of way.

Oh, well, that's not a problem... I guess. I mean, I do not listen to podcasts almost never, and when I've did, I've listened to those in a car, and that radio doesn't have a speed up or anything...
And I always favor music instead of audiobooks, and I'm not speeding that up... usually. I know at least on one ocassion it worked splendidly.
But YouTube? Yea, I certainly speed up some slow talkers on ocassion, so... I guess I kind of can understand it? Like, after all?
It's not something that I do often, but it doesn't sound for me as stunning as the previous thing.
