Makes sense I guess, lot simpler than I thought. I have a bad habit of asking people for help when I could probably get by without if an opportunity presents itself. Thanks though.
To get back on topic, was researching John Titor (sound familiar?) last month and thought I'd share a bit: Do note, I'm heavily summarizing so look into it yourself if you want the nitty gritty details, also might be wrong in a few places (haven't been able to get a hold of most of Titor's actual conversations, just summaries). Basically, he's a self-proclaimed time traveler from the year 2036 who posted for around a year in a time travel messaging board (https://bbs.timetravelinstitute.com/ first, then moved to another which I haven't found).
He presents himself as a soldier who's been tasked with retrieving an old IBM 5100 in order to debug legacy software in his time, but has made a small detour in the year 2000 (instead of heading to 1975), in order to visit his family and talk to people about himself. In the year he was posting, he often talked about future events, many of which never came true; though Titor explained that may be because of the many worlds interpretation theory.
To prove his authenticity, Titor presents images and diagrams that depict his time machine. Curiously enough, he also revealed information not well known to the public at that time, that the IBM5100 had a secret proprietary programming language, which is why he wanted the old pc in the first place. This does increase his credibility, considering this couldn't be known to many, but skeptics argue that he might've been a computer scientist fabricating it all.
Still not done looking into it, but that's a very summarized summary of John Titor. Not sure how influential this was, but it did bring Steins;Gate so that's something =D
