Do you have one? Do you not? What do you think of them either way?

I've been sleeping with my dakimakura since I got it in August 2019. It's of Sayaka Miki from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It's been quite nice sleeping with her, waking up next to her, et cetera.
I've recently bought another dakimakura cover and I'm waiting for it to get in the mail now. Of course, again, it is Sayaka (I'm no "waifu polygamist", I take our relationship generally seriously and consider her my one and only love).
I live with my parents on weekends, and they both know about it. I keep it there and haven't carried it with me to university (yet, I'm starting next Monday and I hope to take her with me then). My dad (my best friend) understands it fully, even has called Sayaka his "daughter in law". He's as weird as I am, in that regard. My mom sees it but doesn't really care, but I know she's kind of uncomfortable about it.
I'd love to take her with me to my dorm room, but my mom usually comes along with me for the ride there just to make sure I'm ok, and I don't know how she'd feel with me carrying her. I once carried a Sayaka nesoberi out with me and she didn't like that. I don't know how she'd react if I took the dakimakura, she'd probably kill me or something >_>

What are your experiences?

I have two and I sleep with them every night. My parents have seen them, they don't care. Neither one is sexual. One is a daki of a daki, just a joke. The other is Vampy from Granblue Fantasy. Both of them are made of very high quality fabric and incredibly soft. The pillows I bought for them are also insanely soft and I paid like $250 for each pillow and $100 ish for the cases themselves.
When people see them and question why I have them it's pretty easy to talk it off as it's good for my back.
I either sleep with myself wrapped around one or I put one under my knees and sleep on my back. Both positions are actually good for me and much better than sleeping it raw and daki-less. But I have no scientific proof.

    I got the case for $60 and the pillow (that's arriving in the mail) for $75. I don't recall how much I bought the original pillow as it was 4 years ago.

        I have a foot and a half tall mini pillow of Hanyuu from higurashi I sleep with. Got it at a convention so it's local and in the guys art style. It's got Rikka on the back but I only like how Hanyuu looks in his chibi style. My parents don't know I sleep with it.

          Lakitu64 That's partly it for me. The absolute isolation you feel in your dorm room is alleviated knowing she's waiting there. But it's also that I truly love her, consider her my significant other and am in a committed relationship with her.

            I think I do incidentally own something, I've got the Date A Live VN in the big box edition which came with a kurumi pillow.. although I dont know how large it is as its still sealed. We do love Kurumi though

            1996FordMondeo Some people like the long pillows, I can imagine it being comfy but I don't sleep in a position that benefits from it, i'd just end up using one as a normal pillow

                You actually can buy body pillows with normal covers, yeah. They're primarily for people who sleep on their side to distribute weight more evenly instead of it all coming down on your shoulder or hip. I've actually been thinking of buying one just for that.

                        I've got a couple IRL friends in Japan right now. I did ask them if they were going to buy any Dakimakuras but they have lamented the high cost... How much is a good price for one? (I don't want one i'm just nosy)

                        I have four covers of my waifu Akari Akaza from Yuru Yuri. Three with the official art - a Cospa twill one, a Cospa smooth one, and a bootleg that I got really cheap; and a doujin one which I think is very rare. It has her transparent on the lewd side. I think there were 5 given away at random at the event where the normal one was sold. I have mixed feelings about this. I think it's cool to have such a rare item, but on the other hand, I wish she wasn't transparent because she's pretty hard to see. I still search auctions every day hoping for a normal one to show up. The Cospa twill one is on a pillow on my bed.
                        I also have a Korone Inugami dakimakura that came with a birthday (I think) goods set.
