Unsure if it quite counts as retro (it IS discontinued). I've been playing on my 3ds a good bit lately, largely doing animal crossing chores at the moment. I have had my YouTube recommended become pokemon videos so I'm in the mood to play through that series as well...

Lumeinshin Pokemon is usually good for a replay on the games your nostalgic for, but there is a romhack called Emerald R.O.W.E. that backports a bunch of mechanics and Pokemon into an open world emerald. Might be worth checking out if you got the itch.

anybody recently hear about the majora's mask recomp? any thoughts? it's one of my favorite retro games to play, be cool to see it all in high def.
*edit: don't know if this needed a separate thread, decided to reply here where its on topic.

The Majora's Mask Recomp + more importantly the tool that allows it to work N64 Recomp (github link) are really super cool.
Like I posted prior, there is a native Perfect Dark recompilation but this tool will allow many of the more obscure games to get their own native PC ports as well.
For me I think im most excited to have good native versions running on the linux retro handhelds like the Anbernic RG ones. The more stuff running efficiently on those the better!
Also don't worry about a separate thread for this. I can always move posts to another if it gets busy on multiple topics in this thread 🙂

Yeah its nice to see this come around and benefit the retro community. thats also cool that it can run on linux too, better it runs on everything! Is there any guide out there that can help with setting something like that up? I mean its either that or get the old n64 outta storage with majoras mask.

Also don't worry about a separate thread for this.

thanks. hopefully more people are interested in this and alot of n64 games can be discussed here in the near future.

Somewhat interesting for some of you.
Palmer Lucky of Oculus fame and his team at ModRetro have engineered a new FPGA gameboy called the Chromatic. It has its own games coming as well
        https://modretro.com/products/chromatic-tetris-bundle

It comes with a new Tetris cart... which does have the 'up to drop instantly' feature and a shadow which is great. I might buy one

All of you retro gamers looking to get your hands on some high quality game of play, with mad button combos and a rewarding state of flow, have a look at this!

My favorite title of all, Speed Racer, 2008, on PS2. This is a movie tie-in game, but the VFX artists from the movie worked with the game devs through development, so that they would ensure you could do in the game what was done in the movie. Which, as a fan of this movie, is just such a special thing to have. Like hoaley shit.

In this game, I find nothing but free flow focus to practice with in single player. In multiplayer tho, they take off the slow motion effects when you get hit or do damage, so everything runs in real time, and your brain has to work more to keep up. When T-180s fly by at 400+ mph, it can be tough to do that at all, but that's what the single player mode is there for. Then it's down to you knowing your button inputs at the right time, but even tougher. And all that says nothing about what could be done with the aggressive opponents cheat, and etc. others. AO was on during my gameplay I'm linking. It's so difficult not to die at all with that shit turned on. Personally, I want so badly to be able to 1v1 somebody of a similar skill level to me, because rn, I'm still looking for a skill ceiling, and I can't find it yet.

My "most retro" favorites are probably Gunstar Heroes for Genesis, SMB3 for NES, Dragon Force for Saturn and Neo Turf Masters for Neo Geo.

Genesis was my first console, I don't remember getting it, I just always had it. I think my dad really wanted one so got his probably 2 year old one. Gunstar Heroes was one of the games I had and I played it a ton. I was also obsessed with Sonic but didn't list it above since I don't really revisit it much.

Beyond that I really like Gamecube and probably consider it my favorite console. Pikmin is an all time favorite of mine I still play quite a bit.

Don't know if this counts as "retro" but I've been getting back into TFC recently. Love that game so much. Also, I finally got my hands on a CRT, which has breathed new life into my (working) consoles. I've been playing a lot of THUG 2, Halo 2, Counter-Strike, and DOOM 3. I also picked up Mechassault and Splinter-Cell but I don't know how much I like either.

Earthbound is always a good game.

My friend got me a 'funkeyS' which is a tiny keyring console for playing gameboy and gbc games.
its a bit small for pretty much everything but since it was a gift and its so small, maybe i'll put a couple pokemon games and dragon quests on there to play

mustard genesis (megadrive for me) is a great console, I got one for £15 at a boot faire like 10 years ago and I buy games for it every now and then. They've definitely held up well and you still get that big box experience, very hard to do for a lot of the old nintendo consoles

                june TFC? Team Fortress?
I never played classic or the quake mod, only tf2. That is a good game I need to play more of for sure

Wondering if anybody here has had experience with the Namco Museum Remix on the Wii U? Wanted to know if it was generally a good build.
