Caffeine Except when you litterally die (like when you try to reach the ceiling fan at the very beginning if you picked smartass class), DE did a good job of not making real "failure rolls". Il you fail a skill check, it usually creates a new opportunity, and many fun interactions only happens after failed skill checks. There are some interesting exposition that ARE hidden behind difficult checks that does not offer anything when you fail which is a bummer, but this did not bother me too much (probably because I didn't know what I missed the first time). It's been a while since I played it, maybe I'll try to make another run soon to see some of the content I missed.
I liked the writing and political commentary, but then I'm pretty left-wing and due to my nationality, Martinaise kinda feels like home to me.
For anyone reading, I concur with Caffeine's recommendation.
On my end I'm about to finish Monster Hunter Wilds story mode while doing some sidequests on the way. The story was unnecessary and cringe in some parts (pakistani Chalamet begging us to not kill the monster that attacked his family because "he's just like me fr fr"). At least the Handler and most character are way more likeable than in MHWorld. Soon the story will be over and I'll play the REAL game; the high rank monster killing sigma grindset.
I also played a Slay the Spire inspired game named Astrea, where you gather dices instead of cards. This game surprised me because it's pretty, has interesing mechanics that aren't just a ripoff of other games, and a lot a different ways to build you characters.
