gemisthon 1) Does the site load slowly for anyone else, or is it just my network?
site loading for me is sometimes BLAZING fast, and other times a little slow. I'm not always too sure why. the CPU isnt throttling or anything so it may just be how it is at the moment. There are more slowdowns when i am fucking about and changing settings, which i've been doing a lot this week.
gemisthon Surprised that Flarum doesn't have some kind of easy chat addition.
There is a 'realtime chat' extension, however it relies on another extension that changes the way the forum works, via another called 'realtime'. This does as it says, changes the forum into a 'realtime' one, where loading is constant as opposed to manual reloads or timing. This to my knowledge has a pretty large performance overhead and also requires a good bit of work to self host. Not to say i'd never consider it but I have some other ideas that may be sufficient. I will list them and their pros/cons soon ™️ .
shewasacarpenter Discord or some sort of chatroom as other seat would be neat.
gemisthon I would personally prefer a solution that isn't discord, but if that's the only solution I'll accept it.
Given the spirit of the forum, being somewhat of a breakaway from the most mainstream monolithic entities (ie reddit), I would rather not have a discord server.
I do currently host an XMPP chat server, however it isnt integrated to this forum in any way and it is text only, so I wouldnt consider it as it is to be a suitable one for SheepishPatio.
