Hello, I'm a native Portuguese speaker and I wanna know how stupid it is of me trying to learn four languages at the same time, I've been learning Japanese for two years and I would say that for someone who is self-taught I'm doing pretty well, I can watch quite a few anime without many problems, read manga, and at the time reading a book, I still add every new word I find to my flashcards but my grammar isn't the best because I don't try to write myself so I don't integrate it. The other languages I'm learning are in various different levels and have various different goals. One of them is Dutch, I'm still building my vocabulary but I can read some Tintin comics in dutch, I still have a lot of problems so I have to stop and check once in a while, but there are moments where I do just fine and speed through easily. The other is Chinese (Mandarin) mostly learning it to be able to read some manhua and games, I tried learning it when I was a teen so I remember a lot from it, knowing Japanese also helps me understand it sometimes but not read it. The final language is Ukrainian, only really learning because of my girlfriend and her parents, since they don't speak Portuguese or English. I have a lot more trouble with Ukrainian because I'm just not familiar with it at all and is an entire new different writing system to get used to, I can read it now but don't understand it yet or know where to find some good frequency dictionary flashcards or whatever, so I've been making my own flashcards which is a bit tedious. Should I drop something? or can I do it? I don't expect fluency overnight or anything like that obviously.
