I just rewatched Das Boot, the directors cut of 3h30 min. Such a tense film, excellent authenticity and amazing visuals. Highly recommended you watch it in the original German as well

Yes, I'm familiar with this film. I've seen some of it, but are yet to see all of it. I've seen what I imagine to be the most popular scene, where the captain is on top of the U-boat/submarine. Will watch, thanks. I enjoy everything nautical.

If you like nautical movies I can also recommend Greyhound(2020) with Tom Hanks, its kind of the opposite of Das Boot, from an escorts perspective. Also very authentic.he film is a very nautical and technical, letting you as the viewer figure out what a lot of the terms mean. Not everyone likes that kind of stuff, but I found myself looking up and researching a lot of terms and concepts, which I enjoyed.

I really love the duo of Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin soccer. If you've ever read those wuxia cultivator novels, they feel like a comedy transplants of those powers into the modern world. I would highly recommend them if you're looking for a goofy, fun time, especially with some buddies.

If you have yet to watch Kubrick's filmography, then do, as they're very good. I'm on the course of finishing David Lynch's filmography. The first part of Lost Highway (1997) by David Lynch is the pinnacle of psychological horror. As a complete piece, I have to say Blue Velvet (1986) is the best, although it isn't as interesting as his other work.

BronzeAge I had the chance to see Inland Empire in a cinema recently, my first time seeing it. Man, what a ride. Maybe the most unsettling film I've ever seen. It's like a kaleidoscope, everytime you look at it, it shifts and changes completely.

Only Lynch films I haven't seen thus far are Wild at Heart and Straight Story. I understand the latter is somewhat normal?

I watched chinese movie Day Tripper a year ago. It was awesome, like seeing Wes Anderson, but in realities way closer to my own country, therefore the picture is, like... It resonates with me way more. And might seem way more alien (and therefore interesting) to americans and europeans.
A year later the movie still hasn't got any kind of release, and so I'm starting to afraid it will forever remain a pleasure for selected few only. I really hope it's not the case, and that Day Tripper will get some kind of disclosure ultimately, because the movie definitely deserves a wider audience.

I've yet to see Straight story, but that is also my impression. Although, It could be, rather than a 'normal' film in of its self, a 'normal' Lynch film. I've not seen Inland Empire, but would like to. Seeing it in a cinema is quite a privilege!

watched Dr.Strangelove by Stanley Kubrick and for some reason i still find the film very relevant even to this day. it is probably because of how the films shows how paranoia led to the life threatening situation that the characters are faced with. the character the brigadier general, Jack D. Ripper, reminded me of RFK Jr. with all of his fluids talk. it's a really good film, i suggest people watch it

Last night I watched Last Year at Marienbad. The cinematography is absolutely stunning and I think its first half is a brilliant example of a film that is somewhat abstract and nonlinear yet still compelling. Like many films of its type, though, it loses you in the second half. It's hard to stay compelling when you're being so arty and abstract.

I saw a lot of ultra-fresh movies lately, so here's a couple to watch out for when they (hopefully) hit the screens.

A Long Shot by Jin Chuan
Since even IMDB doesn't have a description for now, I'll reprint the one I have:
"The photographer Guang takes a set of photos of a college girl named Bai, when they accidentally commit a manslaughter. The identity of the deceased opens up a mystery, and the appearance of witnesses causes the situation to spiral out of control. The incident escalates and the situation becomes more dangerous by the minute. They have to rely on each other and take risks to escape."
I think it is a solid thriller and the final twist holds. I can understand if not everyone will agree with my opinion, and yet still, I think it is the movie worth watching.
Given that the Day Tripper which I watched a year ago still haven't got any kind of a wide release, I'm somewhat afraid A Long Shot will remain behind closed doors as well... but at least the movies below are definitely not the case, according to IMDB. So let's move on.

The Old Woman With A Knife aka Pagwa by Min Kyu-dong
A solid action. I'd describe it as if koreans tried to make 80's Hong Kong action movie - and they succeeded. Younger audience, of course, compared it to John Wick. Anyway, you see what to expect here. It's a cool movie to have an evening and some popcorn with.
IMDB says it will get limited release in the US at May 16th already, so watch out for it.

One Of Those Days When Hemme Dies by Murat Firatoglu
It's one of the best modern road movies I saw. Wait, scratch that. It is the best modern road movie I saw, and one of the best road movies altogether. I cannot say it has any kind of a message, really, it's just about a man walking and riding around Turkey with a purpose. But I really liked it. For whatever reason, it just looks so... calm and peaceful. Shots are bright and tasteful, colors are vivid and pleasant... I really liked that movie.
IMDB says that the movie has already been released in Turkey, so if you're there, perhaps you can already get it somehow.
