Lumeinshin
Sweet. Sweeeeet. This is definitely one the most the most faithful recreation of the 80's sound. I do not hear things that are this close to the original 80's hits often.
Lumeinshin Note, I think we may want to rejig the way we do this thread, given youtube is so annoying now about how they display their videos + don't let you listen on another site for so many songs.
That's been primary reason I haven't shared much. Kind of hate YouTube, even though this is the only platform to upload videos to comfortably. But not music. It's bad for music. Compresses quality to hell, among other things.
I'd rather upload files somewhere, but pixeldrain and the likes are not permanent and eventually the thread will be full of dead links, and I do not have much space on my cloud drives or whatever.
I mean, my whole collection is on DC++. but DC++ doesn't have links. I can creat a massive torrent, perhaps, but it would be pain in the butt to update it constantly...
Anyway, so far I have uploaded the small batch for permanent storage...
First two tracks are Super-Wolf. This guy is kind of awesome, I really dig his music. He only recorded, like, about half a dozen of records, and his main one - Super-Wolf Can Do It - is everywhere. Everything else though is a huge rarity. These two in particular took me on quite a hunt. A friend of mine ended up fishing them for me out of Soulseek - these are the best quality of these tracks I've heard online. I've further made an effort to clean them up of pops and clicks, and so here they are. I really miss the times when rap had this much influence from funk and a whole band was behind an MC rather than just a DJ. As much as I love DJs. Really though, why not to have both a turntable and a bass guitar?

Circuit Breaker by Zig-Zag - one of the best 80's hip-hop electro tracks I've ever heard. Kind of surprising I've never heard it in a game or a movie - it is really good, easily on par with the top bangers of the era. But, eh, went unnoticed, I guess.

The following track, despite the name Computer Funk, is probably the one that takes it further away from funk than any other track in this post - it is pretty much pure electro. I still like it though, and I spent quite some time cleaning this one up. But now the beat here is perfect, I guarantee it.

Funkmaster Ozone's music is electro-funk. I'm still not sure if these are modern tracks or the original 80's ones. Ozone presents them on his bandcamp as unreleased tracks from the 80's era, but the release has been in the late 2010's and the sound is way clean for actual 80's tracks. Or so they sound to me. But whether authentical or not, they definitely carry the spirit of the electro-funk to the maximum. Talkboxes all the way, I just love those magical things. Google for talkboxes if you've never heard about them, they are pure magic. And do a search for more of Funkmaster's music if you've liked these two tracks.

It seems like Germany still has the electro scene going strong (or at least had it going during the late 2010's; I'm pretty sure Egyptian Lover resides in Germany nowadays, aside from all other things), and Flashmaster Ray is another representative of this awesome modern electro sound. Though he perefers to skew it towards hip-hop zone, rather than a funk one. Still, just like with Ozone's tracks, if you like this one, you probably want to run a search for more of Flashmaster Ray's music.

Finally, we come to disco, and I want to share some of the underrated masterpieces from the rather short-lived space disco subgenre. These two tracks below, as far as I remember, are A-side and B-side of the only record Transvolta ever recorded. Sometimes they are unified under one name - those 7-minute long versions of Disco Computer you might find online are nothing but Disco Computer and You Are Disco joined together. This thing below is genuine original vinyl in the best quality I could find online (whatever there is on Apple Music is overcompressed garbage). I personally adore these tracks. The lyrics, in my opinion, are simple, but at the same time they are, in a sense, a perfect example to characterise the peak of the positive sci-fi, positive outlook for the future that was rather prevalent back in the days. He's got music and lights! He makes the drinks alright! And when you turn him on, you've got disco at home!
Disco computer! He is the future!

And the last song is named The Force. By the band named The Droids. Yeah, the ultimate Star Wars geek song, I guess. Hardly any fan songs of today can come close to this masterpiece:
