friffri Talking Heads fans should check out Station to Station by David Bowie if you've never heard it since it sounded pretty Talking Headsy to me, especially the song Stay. Or I'd recommend it to anyone really since it's an epic album :P

Early this year I was obsessed with Ziggy Stardust (the whole album, not just the song) so I had to give Bowie a chance.
Listened to the whole album on the commute this morning, pretty good but it didn't make me go "oh shit that's awesome". Yet I have a feeling it's going to grow on me...

Stop Making Sense is fantastic, much like all of Talking Heads' output. Check out this outtake from the film/album where they play a version of Big Business > I Zimbra. It's absolutely fantastic and a crime that it was left off the final release.

Songs I really like. Back when I moved away for college, I would always have my headphones on. I was alone most of the time, so all I would ever do was listen to music.

Kind of a meme recommendation, but All Star with negative harmony sounds surprisingly good. Like actually good.

This song showed up randomly on my YouTube recommended one day, and it's pretty good. I try to save stuff like this that I come across.

Some anon posted this on jp a while back, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Some favorite guitarists, because I can't help myself
John Fahey- Created a genre he called "American Primitive Guitar" based on his research of Delta Blues mixed with his interest in Indian Classical music and minimalism. Super cool sound and talented player and teacher.

Allan Holdsworth- crazy jazz fusion guitarist. The first time I watched this video he blew my mind with his playing. I've never heard anyone with a comparable technique. I love his sound.

Wes Montgomery- one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time.

Robert Fripp- guitarist for and founder of the band King Crimson. Super innovative and creative player/composer. Watch some videos of him talking about guitar, he's a character.

Pat Metheny- another one of the greatest jazz fusion players. For me, he strikes the perfect balance between complexity and simplicity. His playing is often out of this world, but it always sounds super musical and beautiful.

I'm a big fan of Industrial music. So much shit to get in to but I ain't gonna bore ya. Right now I'm going through Cubanate's discography: they combined the Industrial Rock sound that was popular at the time with techno and made it really aggressive. Gotta love it. Here's a track from their album Interference.

Another recommendation I would give is for Battery Cage. I've only listened to their first album, World Wide Wasteland, but I thought it was great. If you're familiar with KMFDM, you'll probably enjoy this too.

Haven't really found anything like it. Sounds like futuristic hip-hop or something, but I like it.

I usually listen to some DNB or breakcore, whatever fits my mood.
Some good dnb/jungle is "Different Places- Fifty Grand & Optic Core"
or for a higher energy song something like " Alone Nedaj" is nice.

weirdly, i've been getting breakcore recommended to me, usually in mixes.
I think this counts, but its a remix of a song I already like so I figured i'd post it here 🙂

Romcom, new Jakey album. My top 3 are Fat Head Pine Barrens (new verse) and Tommy Hanks. All that by Oliver Tree, and Dedication 5 by Lil Wayne if you like rap music. Lately I cant stop listenin to the classics, Temptation by Sean Paul and I Just Wanna Love U by Jay-Z (the goat). The Chats are also always good.
