Lookism is a Korean anime that was released on Netflix this year. It is based off a manwha by the same name. Korean names are both very similar but also hard to remember since they seem complicated (people seem to address each other by their full names) so please forgive my not remembering all the names too well.
In it's essence the series is about how poorly people who aren't beautiful are treated by most people.
The main character's name is Park Hyung Seok. He is a short and fat, "ugly" if you will. He is picked on and bullied by people at his school and he acts as the errand boy by his personal bully. He is cared for by his single mother who not young and works very hard to provide for both of them and her son's education. Park takes out his frustration at his bullies on his poor mother at times.
She catches him being bullied and intervenes which embarrasses Park. Later Park asks to change schools which occurs so she sends him off to some fashion school of sorts where he will live alone. (It is revealed later that she has to work extra hard.) Park believes he can start over now that he is in a new location, but that is not the case. In his first outing at the town he is bullied once more by other people and embarrassed. People treat him poorly because he is "ugly."
One day Park wakes up in a attractive body and attends the school. Everyone starts treating him very nice, especially the women. Park has to deal with the dissonance of being the same person, but treated much better because he is attractive. Park is still in control of his other body, but while one body sleeps he in control of the other which he uses to work in the ugly body and attend school in the other. He has deal with people treating him poorly in his real body and very nicely in his new one.
At school he befriends some of the nerd kids because he understands what it's like to be bullied which fellow students find weird, but permit because he is beautiful. The other students watch the bullying and laugh along without feeling bad about it, besides Park of course. He also gets into some fights with other eccentric students. Think the school fight scene from Spider-Man (2002).

Anyway, this isn't really a review. Just shilling the show. I am enjoying and it is only 8 episodes. I'm leaving some things out of course.

(Side-note: I am trouble relating to all these shows that have an emphasis on bullying. I have never been bullied nor have I seen bullying the likes of which is depicted in American cartoons and even anime. It all feels surreal to me. Then again, I am blessed with great looks and great height. Maybe i'm just very lucky.)
