Short October Update
It is that month!
Halloween is upon us. Those who enjoy scary stories and films will have a great time with all the film reruns and such going on.
The rest of us will have a normal month until the 31st..
I've been a little frustrated that I've not had much to share with regard to this website, or generally the time to even work on any other projects related to this site/identity. So I apologise for not having exciting news.
Despite that, and my lesser spending/focus on advertising for the past month I think the site has been performing well and it brings me joy to see users come back to post about what they've been up to.
If you havent read some of the recent posts on the site i'd like to draw some attention in this to some of those ideas and solicit suggestions from you.
Events
We have now had a few times, suggestions on game days or other community events.
I'd very much like to do this eventually and am happy to try and make it work.
I do think for the current size of the site, we would benefit as a corner of the Internet by collaborating with other sites on that front.
An example that comes to mind is friend chan of the site 'Wapchan', whom holds viewing parties occasionally with dates/times listed on the site.
Thread on a 'game day' here
I'm thinking it might be an idea to talk to a few admins or people who run other online events and such and then link them here, or create new ones with them. That way we can bring keen users together for events and not take away from eachothers things.
As an example, I know we have a surprising amount of readers here and some of which may want to do an online book club. Not everyone can keep up every month so if we had say five users taking part, every one that can't get around to it that month is a huge deal, especially if they are apart of multiple.
That is some of my thought process at least, and I would like to head in that direction somewhat. Let me know what you think of that idea, and if there are any other sites that I should talk to about organising things 🙂
Showcase threads
We have a showcase subtag, primarily for using as a way to show off and discuss your personal projects or friends things. This has the potential to be used just to post a quick ad then not use the site, or due to the sometimes slow nature of the site, end up staying on the front page without much movement.
I am happy for people to talk about their things, i'd love for people to talk about them in depth. However at this time I think the site is not active enough in all categories for the showcase thread to work well and not deter casual site viewers.
Some may disagree, but I think for some people looking around at smaller sites, viewing a site and seeing self-advertising immediately can be a turn off for taking the site seriously.
Until further notice, any threads made using the showcase thread that are solely for one project will be moved into a larger thread that may be more appropriate. I will let you know when this changes to the more freeform approach im happier with.

We all love looking at goofy videos or trying music somebody has posted, only to have the usability of the thread soured by that grey screen with that HAUNTING text (shhhh its halloween i can say it).
My goal in life is to fix this, I will get there and have something in place to at least get it working a good deal better.
In the meantime, we can all scowl at Google.
