Side Hustle General: Turn a Part-time Gig into a Full-time Job

Since boomers made us all priced out of anything, including homes and cars, many millennials/zoomers have to resort to working a second job or doing something on the side for extra income. It is very sad that most people cannot rely on one job to make life affordable anymore. The average American has less than $1,000 in savings and does have credit card debt. So what can we do to overcome this?

There are some methods that various peoples have done:

Buying and selling retro video games online
Creating videos on YouTube, TikTok, or even Twitch with a niche in mind
Mushroom farming
Selling arts & crafts
OnlyFans (there is a man who burps and makes 7k a month from it)
Refurbishing old gameboys and selling them to hipsters/chiptunists
Dropshipping has been dead since 2014 so don't bother.

Curious to hear what suggestions and ideas you guys have done or your opinions on the topic.

I don't have any personal experience with these but here are some things I have seen people doing:

Uber driver
Doordasher / Instacart driver
Flipping things from thrift stores
Side-gig websites like Fiverr and Upshift, but I have heard that they have been over saturated since a long time ago
Trading, but can be highly risky
Tutoring, if you have connections
Traditional tip-based customer service jobs, can be paid well if it is an upscale setting

I've found that video editing for a side hustle has been doing great to get some money, especially if you get the right client.

If you're physically capable of it and have time on your hands, helping the elderly can be one way to earn some money.
Highly depends on your skills and what you're willing to offer, but from my experience even just going grocery shopping for them or cleaning the house can be massive for them and based on agreements you'll get quite some cash. During covid I used to go grocery shopping for free for quite a few people and almost all of them wanted me to keep the rest.
(Example: I got 50€ to shop for items on a list, everything only costs 30€ and they let me keep the 20€)

I have seen people suceed in basically becoming someone's guardian and taking care of them (some with very low, and some with high efforts) and earning a lot, or being in their will after they pass.
But doing it for that little potential chance or actively looking for elderly without family would be way too cruel and undo all the good. But it's also pretty based on luck and other aspects.

Well, regardless of the motive, at least the consequence is morally positive. I live in an apartment dominated by elderly who live alone and we have a board in the mailroom where people post ads about providing grocery/tech/cleaning help and elderly can directly contact them. I find that quite helpful.

Dropshipping clothing is a waste of time. Been trying to grind that out for years with minimum luck. You really need to be able top drop 1000-5000 dollars on IG ads on a regular basis to make it work.

to add a little bit onto the video creating (tt/ig/yt), regardless if you're reviewing products or have any products at all included, creating affiliate links for each listed will generate a small amount of income for each time someone purchases from your personal link. you have to have a fair bit of traction but in the one instance i did it awhile back, i was able to cover my rent and expenses for one month!
