Blog Shimmy
As suggested by some users, I have taken the time to separate the blog tag into two sections:
Site related and other blogs.
Site Related blogs will be the monthly updates like this and other admin'y type things. Other blogs (just called Blog) are for users to write their long blogposts that are more fitting to the blog format than a blog.
When going on the blog section of the site, you can filter to site blogs or regular blogs. It will show all blogs when clicked on it first and clicking either will filter it.
The Forum software will be having a major update and will include Direct Messaging.
Coming in the next year, the next major version of the flarum software, of which this website uses, will feature a direct messaging (DM) feature. This feature is going to be fully supported by the flarum developers.
Because of this, sheepishpatio will support the feature once it is available. There are still some details that are due to be figured out/unveiled regarding some concerns with the messaging type as a whole, however I am confident the flarum team will be thorough in ensuring the feature is well developed.
In the past there have been third party extensions providing the feature, however they have had short lived lifespans and not been fully featured, ie no admin oversight in the situations its needed or proper permissions.
This feature has been highly requested and I am looking forward to this feature having proper support. Once this update is out and the site is then upgraded I will make a follow up announcement.

We're approaching the Two Year anniversary of the Site in November
I have some ideas on how to celebrate, but I think it'd be good to get other ideas. Feel free to use the comments for ideas!
I'm debating having a thread specifically for ideas on site anniversary's if we have a lot of them... we'll see how we get on.

That other game that seems to have recovered its reputation from launch, far less updates, but a fascinating world and story, may be worth a peek 🙂

We are still a small forum with a wide range of threads, people sometimes join the site, make a thread about something and not check back for a month or so. Feel more than free to reply to threads even if they have most recent replies even as old as 6 months ago!
