Why is this forum so comfy? How do we make it comfier?

The big draw of this forum, for me anyway, is simply that it's comfy. I got to thinking about why, and I think it's just the fact that it has such a small us...

i've been lurking here for a few months, but everyone just seems so kind and honest no matter the topic.

Nothing I can add that hasn't already been expressed by others better already.
I know correlation and causation aren't the same, but I do feel like the forum has seen quite a surge in activity since 4chan got taken down. Sorta hope it's not just a temporary thing, actually.

You're definitely not the only one that has noticed this, me too! I hope so too, although I hope to doesn't become too active to the point that it becomes a moderation hazard or the community stops being a niche tight-knit one. I believe @Lumeinshin mostly does it for fun and I don't even think there's any sorta "staff" behind the site currently, I don't know what'd happened when the site inevitably gets bigger, we'll have to wait and see I suppose.

light I myself only come back on here as a friend mentioned this forum in passing and I remembered I was signed up here lol, coincidentally its been at the same time as this user spike so whatever threads I've been bumping have been getting lots of activity which is great to see. I reckon the forum will be fine moderation wise, forums have yearly highs and lows in user activity and after 4chan is back up (and is actually safe to use) and winter rolls around again it will probably calm down a bit but same time anyone from 4chan who can be retained would be awesome too, if the forum grows more and requires extra mods however thats not a necesarily a bad thing in itself, the forum will just require additional hands on deck and a careful eye on how the forum's culture develops.

sonoko The site is pretty snappy, loads quickly, and has a clean, unbloated UI, something not a lot of other sites can say at this point. The communities pretty good as well I suppose.

Every time someone says this site is "comfy", I just picture a room filled waist deep with pillows. So... I would say the site needs more pillows.

coz its a pure forum system and its tagging system favors search over categorization
non anonymity accelerates drama formation though
theme, staring userbase, "atmosphere", "culture" helps but its not the law

We've gotten pretty fast recently, but still maintain the atmosphere. Very good indication of the future.
Things do still feel too superficial and meta to me, but maybe that's because I exclusively use Anonymous social platforms outside of Sheepish, I can't find myself too immersed in discussion in one thing just yet, maybe that will change.

Well, yeah... It's a site full of introverts. lol

I think that's what makes the site so great, but yet so boring at the same time. I think it naturally draws in people who are of the INTP, INFP, INFJ, and INTJ personalities. The phlegmatic/melancholic types.

Which is why, to the people saying "we need to get rid of the dislike button" or "it will soon devolve into chaos" 😆 I don't think this site attracts that type. Maybe it's the aesthetic? I'm not sure exactly. The people here seem to self regulate and don't want to attract drama.

Not even that, just expand on the reacts system and have a way to log it how much you have into the current points system, way better way of doing comment voting and that way no one can cry about being downvoted too.

kyga Even before the hack, I think a great deal of us came from 4chan in search of greener pastures. All of the fun and none of the retardation.
