frutiger aero appreciation post!

I actually don't know why frutiger aero (especially aurora and eco) are so dear to me. it's a corporate design, but I feel so refreshed and good when I look at it.

I really like the sort of PC98 style stuff, thats pixelated but also got a lot of depth within the limited colours.
Saying that, frutiger aero does also have a place in my heart from nostalgia I guess. I do like the adding light/shading to the images.

I believe Apple is somewhat changing their style from flat to a bit of a mix, where they are generating light from the icons and blending it naturally to the background? I'm not sure how much the new features where you can change the colours of the icons will affect the way they move forward.

Im a fan of that fancy wood paneling you see in shows or irl. would be fancy to have an office with that kind of paneling. something like pic rel feels very comfy for an office-type of room. I think it would be a bit dark if the entire house was like that all around.

kuolluijen huamut I adore Frutiger Aero, it makes me feel like I'm in a slightly ramshackle but ultimately optimistic ride to the future. Flat design tries to hard to be the future instead of looking forward to it, that's why it doesn't work as well, IMO.

I'm a fan of every single aesthetic I've ever seen over the boring, flat nonsense we've be subject to what for feels like 20 years. I don't know if I have a favourite, but I'm definitely a fan of what you posted OP. I'm quite a nostalgic person in general, so it's hard to tell what I genuinely enjoyed and what I'm just nostalgic for. I definitely agree with Lumeinshin that PC98 style things are gorgeous in my opinion. Can't get enough of that style. Got a whole folder of random pictures I've found for em.

I must ask though, those personal sites you found are interesting. How did you come across them? I need no idea people still made personal websites. Obviously, I know some people must, but I have no idea how to actually come across them. It's a much, much more interesting way to use the internet in my opinion, and it's always nice to see ones that are updated still to this day. I'd be lying if I said I haven't thought about making one for myself, despite how much I despise webdev of any capacity.

yeah, they do! it's just not popular at the more uhhh wide-web. you may check "indie-web" or "small web", it is part of ideology, not only style.

I know that almost nobody outside of my country cares about this, but I love northern Italian Art Deco: buildings, book covers, paintings, statues... you name it. Here are some examples of this "aesthetic".

These are some pictures I took while in Gargnano, a small town on the western shore of Lake Garda. There were many buildings that have a clear Art Deco influence in their architecture.

These are a couple of pages from the 1921 edition of D'Annunzio's Notturno. Just all around splendid drawings, nothing to add here.

This is a picture of the Monument to the fallen in Monza, whose construction began in 1923 and ended in 1932. If you're wondering, it is still there, I just like this old and almost dreamlike photo of it.

I sincerely hope that my post interests some other people to this particular style of art and, uh, "aesthetic".

Bright things. I like bright things. Previous century had a lot of bright things.

I'm just tired of these modest and dull colors that are popular since 2000. Especially blacks and greys. It's like Y2K happened and destroyed color.
Back in the days there was Memphis Group designs, High Impact Mopar colors, mod tops, pro street tuning style and just art in general tended to be colorful.
Why do we have to live in this age where all art has to be "realistic" and reality itself is mostly grey and black? What the hell has happened?
I want my colors back.

Interesting. I'll definitely go through and poke around, see if I can find any active websites to follow. Honestly, the more exposure things like this get, the better. Anything to preserve old "culture" of the internet is a net win in my books. It sorely needs to come back, or evolve into things more similar to it than what we're stuck with now.

It's something nostalgic for me since I have always been surrounded by that aesthetic, from albums, art, books, flyers, etc...
I don't have much more to say on it, other than I just generally enjoy the look/texture of the art and it's rather calming.

Apologies if there are too many images but, I feel these are varied enough to show the difference in style for this aesthetic.

there's something so appealing about these areas, maybe the vast size or bloomed skyboxes.
i imagine they probably smell like the hardwood boards of my childhood house and sound like an overheating console

Ah, there's an artist that makes these kinds of landscapes. Unfortunately, they're not actual 3D environments that can be explored, just AI-generated art, but they're pretty enough nonetheless. It would be nice to have a revival of this aesthetic.
