I basically only watch Nyanners. I tried v-tubing myself, but I hedged my bets on standing out as the "ugly" vtuber and that didn't work out.

Lumeinshin Amiya is completely different when speaking, compared to the stationary picture of the model.

I personally am friends with a low level v-Tuber, who recently had a name and persona change, so I'm having trouble remembering the new name and persona change.

I used to follow some other Vtubers who were bigger, but they had like sex scandals or became too big. I am also personal friends with a few really small Vtubers who stream off and on.

Long ago, I could be up late enough to watch Moeshop make their music. (I believe he pronouns of Moeshop are "beatmaster" and ummm, that's all I remember. They maybe?")

I used to bingewatch Eilene's videos back in the day (the Ebola-chan video series guy). Still sucks that youtube purged and demonitized her(?) channels. I don't think anyone archived her(?) older videos where she(?) would explain western memes to her(?) japanese audience so I guess it's another one adding to the mounting pile of Internet lost media. There's also the drama between her(?) and another well-known vtuber named Mirai Akari but I'm not really well-versed with it. All I know about it is that Eilene announced one day that her(?) channel would be handed over to the Mirai Akari team. She(?) had collabs with Mirai back in the earlier days of her debut but Eilene was slowly getting phased out from her(?) own channel until one day all of Mirai's videos with her(?) were gone. If you're wondering why Mirai's youtube handle is Bittranslate, it's because that was the original name of the channel which used to be Eilene's.

Nowadays, I only watch Pippa and a couple of indies from FlaVR (semi-serious vtubing group born out of Pippa's NovelAI stream). I can't really catch up with livestreams anymore.

I fell in an unironic parasocial relationship with ~~amelia watson~~ a particular chuuba, but I also kinda realized I didn't really liked the girl and the fact that she's scared shitless of her fans turned me off a little bit. I think I just fell for her because of the le gosling meme in /vt/

I've been watching Ninomae Ina'nis for two years now. I guess I've really liked how laid back and chill her streams are. Especially, in past streams, she began streaming asking "Still alive?" and man I felt that. Also, whenever she streams some game, the first twenty to thirty minutes are always her talking about random stuff. It's a meme at this point. Sometimes, game streams simply turn into zatsudans.

I just watch funny clips that get shared around.
Not a fan streamer culture of any kind really. And vtuber stuff is just streaming.

Yeah thats fair, I think clips or clipped segments are the best way to watch any streamer. Seeing them live is only nice in the interaction and minor influence over the stream itself

Do we think it was any particular reason for her personally or something related to the company? And do you think any other Vtubers would/will make the jump to alternative social media like the Fediverse?

I'm not sure why they'd move to alternate media. The entire point of being a vtuber is to garner a large audience. So unless you think you can't do that on regular social media there's not really a reason. I'm not against it or saying they shouldn't, just that it's going against what I see vtubers as being

Fantasy There was a push for japanese artists to join misskey. I cant actually remember why but it was something along the usual "twitter shadowbanning" stuff I think. It wouldnt surprise me if the rabbit was just going along with it. We know shes got an edgy boi streak inside so anything alt-tech is probably cool enough to her

im not a big fan of watching streams or vtubers in general... but... i do like Nejiko Nyan Pyon. I find her pretty entertaining . she does sometimes multimedia projects like this video called "autistic dog milk for chocolate"

i remember trying to watch a few english vtubers but it just didn't hit. gura and co. all that. the only vtuber i actually watched was pikamee. besides simply losing interest, there was a certain point where, regarding both the vtubers themselves and the fans, things got too weird for me. not to rag on any of you guys; why do YOU watch vtubers? what do they bring to you? i'm genuinely curious.

I was a fan of Hololive's Myth and Korone through clips, but I never watched them live, until I hit a weird phase in my life where I was pretty low mentally, but had a lot of opportunities to improve my life.
All I needed was hope, and something to keep me in the moment, something to keep me engaged and I thought livestreams are the best way for that. I was never a fan of Twitch streamers, but what I love about vtubing is simply the fact that it can be much, much more than just that.
I started getting into Holostars JP and Kageyama Shien has been my Oshi ever since. I deny having a parasocial relationship, even if it might seem that way to complete outsiders.
For a little bit of context, when I started watching Shien regularly, Holostars just celebrated their 2 year anniversary and had their first concert announced later that year. The dynamic and Atmosphere (especially back then) was pretty different than how it is on the girl's side, it's more relaxed and laid down. You'd think the boys wouldn't take streaming serious with how chill they used to be, but it was part of the charm. Even if some are just colleagues, you could tell they got along well and had a great time during collabs.
I'm mentioning this because, having a concert together with basically a bunch of non-Idol trained guys that, some don't even do singing content, was absolutely huge and you got to follow everyone grow and work hard to deliever the best performance they can.
Shien's funny and energetic streams, alongside him making me keep track with learning japanese, + hearing how hard he works with everyone else, inspired me to work hard myself. It's what I like, and how I like my vtubers the most. Inspiring.
Nowadays I'm more of a VOD Person, and I started regularly watching Ina a bit more , who definitely also influenced and inspired me a lot along Shien, what I like about vtubing too is simply just their music. Houshou Marine's songs are amazing, and it's how I got interested in her too.
I think it's easy falling into the vtuber rabbit hole if you like vocaloid or japanese music, even if you don't care about the vtubers particularly.
