Colgatto i found the gameplay fun personally. but yeah, i did play it with my brother like you did with your friends. probably added to the enjoyability. there's something about playing games with others-- especially in person-- that elevates the experience.
sonoko yeah the puzzles aren't great, the gameplay loop is repetitive, controls feel stiff by most comparisons really; i think the most notable part of the game is the music. to me it feels like its greater than just the sum of its parts though. there's a certain feeling i associate with silent hill 2 that has to do with the fact i played it at night, on a projector, with someone i enjoy being around, at a time in my life that left me receptive to its story far more than it has to do with the game itself being just that incredible. there's just so much more to really interfacing with a piece of media than the act of consuming it, and most of the time we don't know, care, or have the means to control these variables.
Lumeinshin i played the beta a bit ago and i agree with you bar the getting old. its nice to see an art style that isn't fortnite or unreal engine 5 every pore in your skin simulator. It felt great to play but i dont know how big the audience for this type of game is... it doesn't feel as tight or focused as something like CS but that's part of the charm. regardless it'll be fun to see this one evolve...
