What series/media would you create?

If you had the opportunity to start a manga/anime/series/movie/whatever, what story would you tell?
For me, I was thinking of some day remaking High Guardian Spice, like literally buying the series and doing it from the ground up with most characters redesigned and the story modified (not as much, though), I felt that the series had a LOT of potential that was heavily wasted.

If you mean what existing fiction I would want to take and make, I have two things.

1) Resident Evil 6 as a movie
No changes to the plot whatsoever. Leave it as the hilarious, hammy action flick it is. Market it as a single film, but every single theatre screening gets a different character's route.

2) Girls' Frontline
I don't know what medium would be best, maybe a TV series could be nice. Come for the girls and guns, stay for the scheming old men.
Anything within the extended alt-history backdrop of it could be great too.

If it's any fiction, I'd love to make my own writing into visual media, but that's a whole other thing.

I'd find some way to put together a manga-style comic based on my tabletop group's campaigns. Things would have to be re-written/reorganized/adjusted for the change in format but I think my GM puts together a pretty compelling narrative and I like the characters we come up with. I just have to figure out how to not get sued over one party member clearly just being a Passionlip expy.

I would also make a lot of music videos. So many music videos. Not necessarily about tabletop stuff, just in general.

You're a braver man than I am. HGS looked pretty borked from its inception as far as I could tell, but I really didn't pay much attention to it after the first episode came out. What would you plan on keeping from the original version?

Now I know that im not skilled enough to make anything good with this setting, but this is something id love to see/help with creating etc.

Clarifying, you can talk about things that you would create from the ground or from something that already exists in reality, and modify/recreate with your "director's cut"

Porter Campaigns have so much to tell, it would really be impressive seeing one of those coming to life in a comic!

What would you plan on keeping from the original version?

Most of the characters' concepts, I would definitely change their personalities and a bit of their design so they are not as bland though. As an example, Rosemary's hair would be her normal long and 'poofy' hair - which is shown some times in the series - instead of the pigtails that she does, but for the rest she is as beautiful as she looks like in the picture below.

'New Magic' and 'Old Magic' is a great concept that is not detailed and brought to the table to carry on the plot - things don't happen because of the magic - magic happens because the plot needs to explain what it is progressing to - which is nowhere.
The whole High School and the classes shown, together with the events, are things that I also would keep, but giving reasons for their existence and showing the continuous experience that the characters will be getting from frequenting it (while also maintaining a routine that the characters will be dealing with, because for some reason they just abandon the idea that there is different classes for different types of 'classes' that the students will become in the middle of the series).

The summary of the new Season 1 plot is this: "Rosemary, a teenager from the countryside is going to follow the path of her mother, a 'True Guardian', title given to the ones who the Royal Family owns their heritage to - as a route to find answers to the sudden disappearance of her bearer after a tragic event. In order to seek her progenitor's way, she will need knowledge and strength, which is why she - together with her best friend - will journey to the High Guardian Academy, where they will discover about the 'New Magic' and the secrets that holds together this new system".
The new plot (In case of more than one season) would also have new ideas, such as countries, a Secret Kingdom (the one where the spies and the 'New Magic' comes from), the explanation of the past, new relationships, new classes, a well-defined villain, and more

Truth. Stories are made to tell events and to entertain the one watching, the results, whether the lessons and morals that can come with it, only the spectators can tell.

I think a well-told story will generate "lessons" or "meaning" of its own. What the writer might have just put down for his/her own whim and fancy can easily carry some unintended weighty meaning.
It's probably because what we recognise as good and entertaining narratives probably inherently involve some of that. I personally don't set out to write particular meanings into my story, but given the shreds of my literature schooling, I can recognise themes that crop up and core conceptual conflicts that hang over the characters and the narrative.
What I mean to say is, don't sell yourself short.

Probably an all-in-one would make sense. 4 different routes for the viewer's entertainment. For all of Resi 6's faults, I do adore the "crossing storylines" approach they took and the way that going through each route sheds more light on the others. Also the parts where they all intersect are great fun, and learning how each character ended up getting to that spot is satisfying.

My first initial thought is to make a series of TV shows just about giant monsters fighting. I do not want to see people unless they are piloting a giant mech to also fight giant monsters. Ideally there's no dialogue, no story, nothing to be learned. It will purely be giant monsters fighting and destroying stuff. Since this is hypothetical too it's not CGI. Everything from the monsters to the buildings are real. Go back to Godzilla in a rubber suit attacking miniature buildings. It's all that I want out of a TV show. I'm also taking this thread to mean TV shows even though I know it's generalized.

I like stories based off of DnD campaigns. Record of Lodoss War is my favorite of these. I don't often seek them out but I do enjoy reading or listening to stories about DnD stuff, Dwarf Fortress also in this regard.

I would love to do anything with the stuff I write. Basically, it's just a huge dump of lore, kinda like original Rogue Trader of the 80's, and it is based on Warhammer as well, but with Star Wars, Battletech, Mutant Chronicles and everything else I've liked mixed in. And with proper latin! Because I like proper latin and it will likely help me avoid potential lawsuits. I have couple stories written, and I wish I could draw, but if we'd went all into the realm of dreams, I guess I'd like to see a video game set in this setting. I mean, let's get real: movies with fantasy stuff are very hard to make. Just one dragon on the screen is enormous work, if you want to make it look right. No, movie would likely not work.
Anime actually might work, but I generally dislike the style. So yea, video game. Some kind of RPG. That would've been badass.

Man, I feel exactly the opposite. What you describe sounds like simply killing time.
Which is alright, I guess? Some people like Zuma and those other casual games, but it is just not for me. Spec Ops: The Line is an example of a great story in my opinion.

Actually, to add to my own answer, I do enjoy killing time on ocassion as well. There a re moments for high thoughts and then there are moments for mindless 90's action with Schwarzenegger and epic one liners. It's just, I barely can call that stuff great. It is almost impossible to remember anything from it either, except for some epic one liner. For me, at least. I wonder if there are people whose brains are able to remember action movie scene by scene.

I frankly do not think this question has a definite answer. Just how much of the moral of the story should be left to the viewer's discretion? What if the spectator understands the scene in an absolutely opposite way to the intended one? Shouldn't the author, as the creator, be allowed to come in and tell his own, intended thoughts? Shouldn't the creator have the rights to stand for the ways he intended to put in the story?
In the end of the day, the fact that anyone can interpret one thing very differently is what makes art so beautiful, but at the same time, I feel like there should be limits to that interpretation. Like in many things, I feel like there are lines that should not be crossed, that it is important not to go too far, and if someone tries to right away pervert the original idea - that one should be stopped. Because otherwise art can be compared to "science" with schizo theories about flat earth and stuff - no one really considers that stuff science, right?

Indeed, it is a Nechronica campaign! It's been our main system for about five years now. Regrettably (at least for me), we're about to wrap the current game up and move to 5e for the next one. I guess I'll have to start running things myself more often to get my fix.

I doubt I'd actually get any real grief for it, I'm mostly just joking about how blatant the inspiration is. And yeah, the character in question is really not much like Passionlip beyond the 'big hands' and 'issues holding stuff' points. The similarities are largely visual. She did absolutely wreck shit with those hands though. She must have dealt around 100 damage in the final combat (which is a lot in Nechronica).

Also, haven't quite a few media been spun off from the creators' TTRPG campaigns? Record of Lodoss War comes to mind.

Lodoss War is the only one I know off the top of my head. And possibly Goblin Slayer? I know the setting is literally a game in that one. Dungeon Meshi would appear to have pretty strong inspirations from TTRPGs but I couldn't say how much of that is directly from the author actually playing and how much is from their apparent love of Baldur's Gate. I'm certain there's been more.
The real thing stopping me is that I don't know how to draw. The art the GM puts together really makes me want to learn though.

For a special feature option you should have a feature that creates a new 'cut' of the movie by randomly splicing together scenes from each route. Admittedly I doubt that you can actually do stuff like that on a Blu-Ray format but it would be really neat.

I mean, yeah, there's no moral police. If an audience takes away a completely different thing from what the creator intended, then sure, the creator can certainly get mad. But the creator also can't stop them from taking away said message. The creator tries to put in what they want, but it's the nature of communication that what is intended and what is parsed can be very different. Remember, communication isn't just transmitting and receiving. The transmitter has a message, but also tries to spin it in a way that the intended audience will take it as he intends. The audience will take it as they will, but will also try to hazard the intention behind the message itself. There's a lot of mind-reading in baseline conversation alone. In media where the story is the whole message, and audience and creator are sepearated from each other? It gets wild and messy and that's why literature is what it is. Death of the author, sure, but also it would be foolish to neglect the author's intentions, even if a different message could be better spun out of it. And naturally, a million interpretations are formed, some of which are arguably more 'correct' than others.
If the audience takes something else out of what the author intended, that's more food for the author's thought. Figuring out why your intention didn't get conveyed is a whole art in itself.

Well one idea that I've been molding in my head for a while now but have yet to write anything down about is a Warhammer 40,000 campaign book in the style of the Imperial Armor books like the Siege of Vraks or the Badab War. It would be the history of a planetary conflict, which like many many others in the 40k universe, slowly spirals completely out of control. It would include lots of maps, organizational charts, unit compositions, maps, in-universe stories, -documents, -reports and -testimonies, maps, character profiles, units colors and insignia and maps. If I ever actually get to work on it, I'd love to include other peoples' homebrew armies, mainly Imperial Guard Regiments, into the campaign.

I mentioned The Place Promised in Our Early Days in the anime/manga/light nover thread a film set in a world where Japan was split in two after World War II and how I was disappointed when it didn't at all explore that world. So that's one film I'd like to create.
A film or a series that focuses on two friends ending on the opposite sides of the division after WWII, and which follows their families' parallel lives all the way up to the end of the Cold War.

Communist anime girls are an industry niche I think is ripe for filling.

Ideas evolve. It would be irrelevant to mention my ideas here. The final product is the only thing that matters. Keep it to yourself. Sharing it diminishes its value. The delusional grandiosity of your idea, as well as your obsession with it, is what elevates it to the next level.

There is a an IP id love to see used more. Its called "Taimanin". Its a jap IP about near future ninjas and demons and shit. Pretty cool stuff.
And Id love to make actual video games using this IP. Maybe action games similar to MGRR/Bayonetta.
Because RN this IP is only used for Porn VNs and gatchashit.

I have had tons of ideas over the years (some even bordering on the line of blatant stealing looking back now lol), but I would like to create something with a world building/story a la the Metro series or Girls Last Tour. For some reason, I really enjoy those post-(nuclear) war/apocalypse settings. (On a semirelated note, I always lament that they never did anything multiplayer for the Metro games, I think it would have fit very well). I also have a knack for sort of "fake" horror like how Yume Nikki does that in a way you are actually never spooked, but you have the uneasy feeling always carrying on with you.

There are handfull of books set in metro universe written by different authors that either focus on different characters or even different countries and they are set in the same universe.
Sadly I do not have a link that had a list of those books.
Also very few of them had english translations afaik.
