Tolo it's important to remember the difference between a friend an an acquaintance. Most people have very few actual friends and are mostly surrounded by acquaintances.
I moved to a big city several years back. I was really lonely at first but a few months later I made a new friend through sheer dumb luck. We hit it off really well, and now we've been married for 7 years. That's my best friend.
I have one other friend, I met him on /vr/ and we happened to live in the same city so we exchanged contact info and started chatting and eventually met in real life. We're very similar and have all of the same stupid hobbies so we're a good matchup, I don't see him all that often though because I'm usually busy with my family.
Apart from that, everyone else is just an acquaintance. I like my acquaintances, I enjoy talking with them or seeing them when I go to kendo practice or work or the grocery store or wherever, but it's not like I would ever invite them to hang out or anything because they're not my friends.
