Man, I wish I could go to the Porter Robinson tour this year. I realistically could take a train and go somewhere in Europe, now that I'm an adult and I have the freedom and all... But the issue is that I don't know any porter fans that would go with me. As much as I'd love to go, it'd be quite strange to go alone, wouldn't it?

I went to the Elden Ring Symphonic Adventure last weekend. I'd never been to anything of that sort so it was a novel experience.
It was really very impressive, although I think because it was only a one time thing the people doing the video didnt have as much time as they'd have liked to do it. Either that or multiple people worked on the video and a couple werent as good as the others.
We sat maybe a bit too high, perfect for watching the screen but not ideal for watching the symphony. My friend wasnt too keen on it until the encore where there were no visuals and he said that was really good. He'd mostly watched the screen and forgot somewhat that we were watching an orchestra.

I'd been watching the orchestra and then the video when my eyes got tired so I think I got a good sense of the experience. My thoughts are.. I think Elden Ring is a great game, but I think that it maybe doesnt quite have enough amazing tracks for the experience to be really worth it (for me anyway). I'm glad I went and some of the tracks were great, just maybe i'd have preferred a 'From software best of' orchestra or something, which if they do i'll go back to ofc.

The legroom was VERY limited tho 😢

CatboySummer Sort of related to what I just went to since its gaming'y. How was the tracklist for the one you went to? (i know its been a little bit now). Did you find there was a good variety of tracks or did you wish some of the tracks were different?

I have a horrible memory, so I keep a lil iphone note to remember which shows I went to. I've been going to quite a bit since Covid restrictions lifted.

Got GSYBE and American Football coming up in the Autumn, no idea what to expect from the former (I would say I'm only a casual fan) and super hyped for the latter. Bohren and Der Club of Gore are coming to London. I don't listen to them super often but they look like they could be a fun experience live, can anyone weigh in?

ive mostly just been to diy shows in my city and they're always fun, good to support your local music scene.

i saw bladee two years ago and it kinda sucked ass but thats less on bladee and more on the audience being dogshit but thats just me.

I like concerts but I don't really get to go to them as much as I'd like. I can probably recall all of the ones I've been to.
When I was younger, I saw ICP once or twice. A friend and I were really into them back then. Not sure about him, but I'm not really into them anymore.
Saw Tool once when I was in college, and a Dropkick Murphys in Boston for St Patrick's Day.
I lived in Pittsburgh for a few years and while there I saw Amon Amarth and Immortal (on separate occasions). I lived within walking distance from the venue where they played which was nice. I wish I took advantage of that more during those years.
While living in NC near Charlotte, I saw Kamelot once and Babymetal once, and Styx with Tesla and Joan Jett (I was primarily there to see Styx).
Now I live in TN and basically have to drive 4 hours away to see a show, which I've only done once to see Leprous and Haken in Nashville.
And finally, last November, I saw Kamelot again in Osaka while on a trip to Japan. It was a really good show. I was worried they'd play a lot of material from the last album which I wasn't a huge fan of, but they played a good mix of old and new stuff.

As for concerts, I go to the symphony a couple times a year. Almost entirely classical, but I saw Ahmad Jamal play jazz once and it was fantastic. I also went to a big vaporwave show, Electronicon 100%, back in 2019. That feels like ages ago. Elecotronicon was vastly different than going to the symphony, but that won't surprise anyone. I've also been to a few music festivals, and when I lived in Switzerland as a kid my parents would take me and my brother to listen to classical chamber music played in a big cathedral in Basel, close to where we lived. Every Friday we would go to a pizza place around the corner for dinner and then walk over to the cathedral. I've heard some killer performances but those experiences in the cathedral as a child stick with me the most.

I think I would like to go to some large scale concerts, maybe festivals too. But from my experience at club events it seems I get ear pain even with earplugs, and that worries me.
I suspect that I have trouble keeping a good fit for a whole night. What I have right now are Alpine MusicSafe plugs wich are silicone, I'm wondering if other materials like foam would work better for me.

Saw Buckethead once, was a lot of fun! I know Sunny Day Real Estate did some touring for their 30th anniversary tour - would love it if they come to Michigan.

sonoko I certainly enjoyed and can say it was everything I wanted it to be, but I'm not even sure if you can expect him to live long enough to tour the UK again.

Reveriemoe I would have to rescind this statement actually, as I have just been informed that he will be playing in various venues in Scotland and England this November. Don't think I'll go myself again though - it was actually slightly cheaper for me to pay for a ticket plus hotel room in Cardiff than it would've been to have gotten a ticket to him in London.

If you have the misfortune of using Ticketmaster, I've found in my experience for any artist presales, try to look for a direct link to the page direct from the artist.
Waiting on the actual Ticketmaster page for the timer to end and take you to the page just doesn't work in my experience, be it on a plain chrome browser or the app and when it did eventually let me in the options would just bug out.
I ended up getting a temp ban on my session... because I was clicking too fast I guess. Direct link to the page via the artist's website tour page on mobile seemed to work best

Got to enjoy the Acid Reign Label Showcase right next to my doorstep (meaning in the next big city) with Hard Driver and Rebelion as the Highlights.
The Hard Driver set was definitely my favorite, hes pretty good with the crowd as well.

The Venue was really nice, it was kinda set up like a Theatre with rising seats so you could get on the steps, have some extra space to dance and still see everything even if you're short.
There was a very comfy seating area set up on the "balcony" along with the food and drink stands. Speaking of which the Food was also adequately tasty.
The weather also played along nicely.

There was an afterparty in a nearby club, sadly without Hard Driver. It was packed like sardines and loud as shitfuck but the lightshow was cool.
I think it turned into an absolute zaagfest towards the end. Not suprising, but I don't need that.

For the future, I defenitely need to find some app that lets me display large text on my phone. I can't be screaming into the bartenders ears I'm just not that kinda person.
