Kaiju Giant Monster thread

Fantasy

Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Anguirus, King Kong, Gamera, Mecha everything.
This is some of my favorite media to consume. I've never seen a Kaiju movie I didn't enjoy. Except for maybe the really bad Godzilla ones where they reuse fights from older movies and they were focused on kids.
Some great music too. Godzilla's theme is iconic
I just wish they kept the human aspect out of the films. I want to see giant monsters fight, destory things, and occasionally being goofy.

I think the human stuff makes it more watchable imo, the big monster fights are cool but if they dont have good context its like watching what everyone says the transformers films are like

I could put on my pretentious film student hat and tell you why I think the people bits are there as to depict societal struggles and such, but I'm not overly familiar with it enough to go into depth, but that is the general direction I've heard and can gleam.
Me do like big monster smash and lasers too tho

Varan is my favorite.
But I haven't actually seen his film.
He just looks so cool and has a great name.
I'm going to watch Varan the Unbelievable this week.

Well that film sucked.
Okay it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. Just reeeally uninspired.

Although I did like how professional everybody was in the movie, like Kaijus are a regular thing now and there are procedures for it.

And Akira Ifukube's score was magnificent. Too good for this film really.

Still love him though <3

recently rewatched this
it's such a strange concept for a giant monster movie but it sort of works
definitely not a traditional one and more based on the people but it's incredibly dumb and I don't think it's to be taken seriously
would be much better with more giant monster scenes though, like a lot more
