I've been doing a playthrough of kirvys adventure for nes. It's my favorite nes title. I enjoy paperboy alot too even if I can't get past the 3rd level.

Whats your favorite of these old titles? Any memories of them? I can remember waking up early one cloudy morning and getting to play paperboy (rare because only had one tv and dad wasn't sharing). I also remember beating King dedede on kirbys adventure and then it started world 9 and I was blown away there was another world to beat.

I am a zoomer so I never lived those times but I did have a "retrogamer" phase when I was 10 since emulated games were the only thing I could play on my first PC.

I played a lot of Super Mario Bros 3. That game is still great even nowadays, it has aged very well. Even the graphics still look good, especially compared to other games of the time.

If most of the levels didn't consist of gimmicky shit and the difficulty was dropped a notch, this would've probably been one of my favorite games. The only game i can really bother to replay in this franchise is the Double Dragon crossover. Remember that? Hopefully you weren't one of the kids at the sleepover who had to pick either Bimmy or Jimmy because your friends ended up choosing all the cool toads before you could.

The only nes game I own physically is dragon warrior, although I tend to play Kirby, Zelda and the old FF games on ocassion. Most have superior SNES games tho, that plus I think being younger means I'm familiar with the 16 bit stuff more. I did nearly beat Mario 1's GBC version as a kid. I'm rubbish at mario

Anyone own one of these things?

I know it's not 8-bit, but the reason im bringing it up is because it's really easy to hack these things to install your own games onto them. You could install the entire NES library, Sega Genesis games, obviously any SNES game, you could even install Arcade games as long as you had enough space for it. Playing Metal Slug with the SNES controller is quite a unique experience.

For half to third of the cost you could just get a raspberry pi kit with the fake Nintendo case.

Those mini snes would have been a much cooler value if they had either the library or like 200 games instead of 20(or was it 30?). There's no reason they couldn't have done that. Would have been a great way for someone to have an "official" source for their old roms. May have also brought down the price on some of the retro carts if there were a secondary physical format people could get. These things were such a missed opportunity. Instead they were a cheap cash grab.

That being said, I did want one but they cost too much and I'm not paying a scalper. I last played metal slug with my wiimotes and the home brew channel like decade ago.
