I taught my kids how to play last month. I had some old cards so we played a bit and decided to buy a 500 pack of random cards to build more decks. Amazon sent me 2 by accident. So now I've got a shitload of cards. Donyou play with the rules about you can only use current cards? I've never beena stickler about that. What's your color? I like white and blue.

I like the simpler stuff in a lot of the older format, MTG definitely suffers a bit from the card game issue of power creep, I basically lost interest in yu-gi-oh because of it and Cardfight Vanguard has rebooted TWICE because they couldnt get a grip on it. Very sad!

I used to get a discount so when the Crimson Vow set came out I bought a bunch because I'm a sucker for vampires and weddings. A sad excuse I know. I play occassionally on Arena. I actually havent played the game IRL, despite people saying they'd love to play with me, its just a small thing that sorta reactivates my old social anxiety a bit. I might try to force myself to go to one of their friday night games somday.

I typically play Mono-white pioneer decks (explorer) on Arena. I'd like to play a red-white combo or commander deck. I had ultra aggro red decks tho, they make me SUPER mad.

I'd like to buy some bulk sets of 5-6th edition and play that IRL with some friends some day, I feel like that'll be easier to introduce people.
I'm not happy with how the LOTR set is looking tbh

I'll play you on Magic Arena or whatever? Otherwise, I mostly just think about how good the old days were with White Knight and Raging Goblin. I unironically like the Xbox game where you summon the monsters and run around wacking people.

The D&D set seemed nice too.

Supposedly the artist for the Anduril card had drawn this image before being asked to change it to make the sword more flashy and of course race swap aragorn to someone else. I wont lie, I am gutted. As far as i'm concerned the below art is almost PERFECT. I cannot confirm how true the story is given the difficulty finding any kind of source. But it fits with some of the best art cards in terms of style whilst also being quite true to LOTR. So I am very disappointed.
I've posted the image because it was hard finding it (weird tho, given it was all i could see for a day, now its seemingly forgotten by search engines). Will update this post with sources and such if/when I find them

Galadriel the lookin a little swarthy. Yes i know its the "shadows" but bullshit they werent trying to make her black. At this point why not just make Lord of dem rangz. They've turned most major characters except frodo (because he's now gay) into shades of basketball american.

They had to sit down and discuss what race they were going to make everyone. And of course the white guy is the bad guy (and has great art). Saruman the white has been upgraded for pride month (yes i know its in the book but no one knows him by that name). I hope this fails.

The Saruman of Many Colours name I think suits the card and character well, being the height of his power and the indication to Gandalf that he had lusted for power. I think its a pretty common opinion that Saruman was underutilised in the films (basically the only major critique imo)

Idk about gameplay but I think that the card should have had each colour as a cost, that would mean that if played in commander his deck would have to mimic the fantasy a bit more IMO, tho this definitely makes it better for play as just 3.

but yeah the other cards just simply arent the characters the titles say.

I'm curious how he is a water land and not fire. He should have been white, red and black. Yes I'm racist but regardless this shit sucks and it is as you say. The characters on the cards are not the ones from the story.
