Just a thread to discuss your own personal favorite aircraft or post any cool aircraft photos you've come across.
Personally, I love the classic, cute, and versatile C-47 Skytrain! : D

Not really into planes now but when I was 10 or so I was obsessed with early planes and especially World War I Fokker planes. Not surprisingly, the Fokker Dr.I was my favourite plane at the time.

Being British I have a soft spot for the good old spitfire, although aside from those little foam planes you could buy from the Post Office I dont have any particular love of planes (never been in one irl)

For whatever reason my dad always knew quite a bit about the Fokkers of that era. He'd always talk about them if we went to any museums

F104 starfighter. Difficult to land (must be done at higher speeds) due to tiny ass wings and long nose. The wings are also sharp enough to require an edge guard when the plane is grounded.

Get out of that fokker you fucker! Had a fun read on those old planes the other day. They tied the machine guns to the engine timing gear with a synchronizer gear to prevent the guns from shooting off the propeller. The brits had a particularly tough time because the Maxim and the Lewis guns didn't like being stopped and started so suddenly and often and it was difficult to find a weapon with an appropriate cyclic rate to match the constant throttlling of dogfighting. They put the guns in the center of the plane though because then you had to aim the plane and not the guns. They would also jam. Constantly. One problem at a time I guess.

I kidding you, kinda. The plane really did crash because of the pic but that was also the first one to crash. Happened in 2019. That's a good record.

Kinda related, I worked on a Mercedes once that had a yaw sensor flip out and cause the brakes to engage randomly while you were driving. The shitty sensor feeding data reminded me of that.

Found a video of that bitch going down

          I fucking LOVE airplanes.

Well yeah but it... looks cool.

Lumeinshin The Spitfire was the one WWII plane I liked reading about, very nice. Of course, on the subject of British planes, the Sopwith Camel isn't too bad either.

My dad is very knowledgeable about planes and builds RC models, but he never talks about it.

Let's not forget the greatest Sopwith Camel ace of all time.

It's cool. I prefer the B1b for my nuclear payload needs. They used to fly these over the city on July 4.

Lumeinshin The spitfire is awesome!! From an aerodynamic standpoint, elliptical wings are (technically) the most efficient. 😃

And it's so cool you mentioned the Fokker Dr. I because both the Spitfire and the Fokker Dr. I share the structural weight-saving feature of a single-wing spar!!

The F-104 is one of my guilty favorites too. It's so funny the Americans gave them to other NATO countries despite knowing it was a hard plane to fly. They are super sexy though.

US air force asking for 241 million to integrate new b21 bomber with the new Long Range Stand Off missile to be released in 2030. The b21 has yet to leave the ground but is expected to enter service in the mid 2020s (with a now pushed back date). What do you guys think of these new planes? The F35 and this new bomber? While I read alot of shit talking about the f35 in the media I also read it is very difficult for pilots to shoot down in practice.

                B-2 is definitely cooler.
