Gigachad Wing Commander Privateer 2 requires you to look up how to even play. Besides the cutscenes and the mystery about who the hell you are, and the missions involved, 90% of gameplay is guarding cargo ships that you paid for, carrying cargo you paid for, so you can get them to a planet where cargo is valuable, so you can get paid.
Everything you have is yours, you have ownership. You get used to how the game feels, how jumping from nav point to nav point feels. You tolerate the bad wingmen who are cheap, and you savor the quips of those who are good but cost more. When you blow up a pirate, he begs for mercy or is over confident.
It's pretty affordable on Good Old Games, but you can obviously wishlist it.
