Woland I'm absolutely terrible at drawing, so lately I've been getting into pixel art to communicate the ideas I have in my head more clearly, since I can use a mouse. Mostly I've been making little gifs and images to go in the background of youtube videos for my music. I'm hoping this thread can be a place for people who make pixel art to post their art and comment, critique, post guides, give advice, encouragement, or whatever to other people. I'll start off posting the pieces I'm most proud of, and I invite you all to do the same!
Lumeinshin Woland the closest i ever came was doing weird pokemon pixelart in the early 00s with my sister on our shared laptop, other than that I havent done much I especially like the night ones, good contrast, theyre all nice tho
Trondei Woland That train is something else, and I can’t get over the airplane tower; I thought I was the only one ever mesmerized by those as a kid. From one creative to another.
Woland Lumeinshin Thanks! I've always loved the different shades of darkness one sees in the nighttime, so it's a visual idea I'm more familiar with. I'm glad you liked them. And if you have any interest in trying to make your own pixel art (even if it's just more weird pokemon lol), I recommend aseprite. Really good and easy to use program, it's what I've been using.
Fantasy Woland There's a long stretch of farmland that we'd have to drive through to get to my grandma's house when I was a kid and in that stretch way in the distance were hundreds of wind turbines all with blinking lights on them. They would all blink in unison and in the dark it was very cool to see. I actually drove past them recently and noticed that a few of the lights are now out of sync with the rest. Not sure if those are new turbines or ones that got damaged or what happened. But just those few ruin that magic that once was.
Woland Trondei Fimm Fantasy And here I was thinking I was the only one entranced by cell towers at night! Also, funny that windmills get brought up, as I'm currently working on a gif of windmills. They are... a lot harder to animate than cell towers. Lain Thank you for the kind words, but you haven't seen my pen+paper drawings. There's a reason I created a pixel art thread instead of posting in the normal drawing thread, I'll say that much.
Trondei Oh, cell towers. I just remember people explaining the lights are to tell airplanes how high they are. It never occurred to me they’re the same thing. The ones I remember seeing were just like long rods pointing into the sky. Not quite the Eiffel Tower effect.
