It really depends on what you're looking for/expecting with them
I like the PRS-505 but had a bad experience having to try and replace the battery for it. The way Sony made it ended up tearing the ribbon cable just moving it through to the shell. (its all metal with no screens on the back, making it like a tube)
The prs-300 is much better in that way, it just uses four little screws to get to the battery. That and the worm style light makes it pretty damn good.
The two things that pushed me toward getting a kindle in the end was the lack on inscreen light and battery life, especially the warm/orange tone the kindle paperwhite has. I had been using the prs300 with a pinkish tape over the light that worked well enough, but took some finnegaling each time.
I've not connected the kindle to the net once and just transfer my book files over via USB using Calibre to convert them where needed. So for the most part the things that amazon would do that would wind me up isnt an issue.
If i were more technical I would make some kind of converter so i could convert a lot of my disparate cables into something more usable and then i'd maybe have kept using the prs300 only. But the Kindle does have superb battery which is unmatched even if i'd put a new one in the Sony ereaders·
The kindle isnt the fastest in the world, and has some issues sometimes freezing on page turn (like the sony ones did), but otherwise its nearly perfect.
