Well, it's... alright.
Every now and then I break things, but I guess it is inevitable.
But some things hold on for years.
Examples? Well, I've been resoldering left buttons on my mouse about 3-4 times by now. For some reason, it has unusual, small button inside, and this version of buttons wears down rather quickly. It's a 2000-something model, and I still have this same mouse.
I've been able to re-solder some resistors or whatever they are called in english in my vinyl player. Changed belt too, some other minor stuff...
Was able to resolder some wires in the headphones.
Was able to "fix" the gamepad and a part of my computer case by cutting a bit here and there with power tools... I mean, the gamepad example, if you want: I bought a used one, and the left analogue stick was resoldered a bit off or something, but it didn't reach the leftmost position because it hit the gamepad case. So instead of resolderting the stick, I simply made the opening in the case a bit wider.
Stuff like that. Safe to say, I fix things every now and then. And then again, I break them now and then too.
For example, back when I was just starting with my vinyl player, I successfully confused potentiometers with screws and broke both the 33 one and the 45 one. Had to resolder them later.
So, what can I say... You try to repair your own things - I applaud. You have my support and respect, even if you break stuff every now and then. Whatever you do is knowledge and experience, keep doing it.
Therefore, good job, OP.
It's a shame modern phones need that much effort simply to change the battery. I love my oldie, where it is still as easy as pop the lid up and swap it. At least that is one place where I don't need to apply my mad fixing skillz.
