I have a crate of 1:64 car models... mainly Hot Wheels. They just lie in a crate, most of them... I'm not even sure why I bought them, to be honest. It's just when I had one of the permanent jobs, I started losing my mind and binge-shopped those little machines just tofind some kind of solace.
Since I bought them, I struggle to make a case for them, and I just can't find the time. If I'll ever put them on a good showcase, there will be photos.
I have a crate of vinyls and other discs too.
There's a number of videos like that on my channel, since I usually only cash out for the stuff I couldn't find online, and so I struggle to put it online for the others. That's the only reason for my vinyl collection, really. Albeit it's been a while since I had time to do a vinyl session, and so I have about ten discs in the queue... One day, hopefully.
Some books too... My main enjoyment is, probably, my motorhead magazines.

Doesn't look that impressive on a photo, I guess. Whatever.
There's no rhyme or reason to these magazines, save for the fact that they are all about american custom machines, of course... Other than that - it's all over the place. There's a bunch from the 50's, a dozen from the 80's, some from the 90's, and a bunch of rather modern ones from 2000 onwards.

That NZV8 magazine was one of the first I bought. From New Zealand, obviously. It is also the only magazine that came with a DVD, and only during previous year I finally got to watch the DVD they shipped with it. Actually was a very cool disc. For what it is worth, I ripped the disc an uploaded it on Archive and YouTube.
That Junk motorcycle magazine underneath it was actually quite interesting as well. It is a british indy magazine, that was made by fans for fans. They made an issue quarterly, and they didn't have even a single advertisement inside an issue. Which is a huge surprise, since usually auto mags have tons of ads inside. As a result though, Junk only managed to last 5 or 6 issues - I'm not sure if the published abandoned them before or after printing the 6th issue.
The Wheels Rod & Classic is a swedish mag... Anyone knows swedish and want to translate an article or two for me? It's very technical, so automatic translators pretty much choke on it.

This bunch of smaller ones from the late 50's (full scale magazine for size) is actually the real deal. Easily the golden era of customs is written in there. A lot of actually practical articles in them. How to do a hood scoop? How to french your headlights? How to draw car? These things actually show and tell everything you might want to use in your garage... Well, might wanted to. Obviously, you shouldn't bring the hammer anywhere near modern fiberglass hoods.

And then, I have a special one here:

Remember NFS Underground? You could actually get on a cover of Chrom And Flammen in that game. Anyway...
The story started long time ago. Back when I was a rather young lad, I catched a glimpse of this video clip on TV:
This was the 2001 in Russia though, and that was the TV. I missed the name of the song, so for years all I remembered about it is that it had that cool Mercedes. Didn't even recognize it was Scooter, though I always had awful memory for human mugs. Cars are much more memorable.
I think I searched through Scooter's songs at some point though, when my dad took me to The Place That Had The Internet (his workplace), but missed The Logical Song at that moment.
Either way, somewhere in 00's I suddenly hear the familiar song. During some... school concert or something? Whatever it was, I go out of my way to find some dude who arranged the music for this event, and I ask him the name of the song. Bam! I now know what it is!
Doesn't give me much though. I can watch the video again, but it doesn't give me any more info about the car.
Fast forward to 2015, I'm already wired and, among all places, I do visit IMCDB rather frequently. And in 2015 somebody finally posts here:
https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_125170-Mercedes-Benz-560-SEC-C126-1990.html
"Car was dark blue metallic, when featured in the german magazine "Chrome & Flammen" in the late '90s/early '00s."
Bingo! I start monitoring eBay.
It goes on for some time. Plus, yeah, I'm just not sure which issue exactly I'm looking for, so I monitor just all Chrom And Flammens. They do not pop up anyhow often, actually.
And then, suddenly, I locate the issue I need... in fucking summer 2022. By that moment I already have huge troubles with eBay, but alright. I write to the seller first: can I pay you somehow else, as I am from Russia and I do not have access to PayPal right now?
Well, I could've, but i'm afraid for my eBay account, et cetera - so says the seller.
Alright, but at least it sounded friendly. I write to my american pal, ask him to buy it for me and send him the money. Ask him to set the shipping address to the... middleman-warehouse company that I use over the years and that is still somehow operational.
The seller cancels the order and blacklists my american pal.
What the fuck?
Turns out, since that was the address of middleman-warehouse company, it had my name in it. The seller saw the russian name and cancelled the order, citing something like "yadda-yadda-russians circumvent sanctions".
Fuck. You. It's a fucking automotive magazine. What I am to do with it? Light it on fire and throw at someone in Ukraine?!
Alright. Patiently waiting 'till winter. The same magazine is still up for sale, nobody wants it. Cool. I buy it again, now via my estonian pal.
Month and something later I finally have the article and photos in my hands.

And yes, the story above is yet another example of how hard it is for me to get nice stuff. Though luckily so far it was the only time the seller cancelled an order. What a motherfucker, really.
Anyway, this kind of magazines... is like a never-ending chain. I usually hunt for a specific car, but then I get a whole magazine of'em, and it is almost inevitable that it will have at least one another interesting car, that starts a new hunt altogerther... Kind of nice, I guess, but oh so often I just cannot afford'em.
