Rooster Teeth, old school internet website and video house, is returning after its closure in 2024 (last year)
(actually not sure what tag this should be in lol)

incase you're unaware of who they are, they were super popular 'back in the day' and created the machinima series Red VS Blue as well as RWBY and some other things.
They had a few popular series/channels on youtube during the 2010s. IMO they got bloated and bureaucratic which caused issues leading to their closure. (as well as other issues)

Seems like Burnie Burns bought it and is looking to relaunch

Are you excited for their return? Do you think lessons will have been learnt? Did you keep up with them at all?
The G4 redo from a couple years ago didn't turn out too well, but that was a big company bringing it back, maybe this will have a better personal touch?

General Rooster Teeth discussion allowed ofc. I'm curious what people watched during their peak and when they bowed out if they did.

I watched tons of red vs blue back in the day, mostly cause i was a huge Halo fan. I Just about shit my pants when i heard the voice cameos in Halo 3

Also, I saw Rocco from mega64 posting about this on social media. I thought he was just fucking around about rooster teeth coming back, but it’s an interesting surprise. I remember hearing about all the shit that came out around the time they shut down and I’m interested to see what they do with RT in the future.

I'm not excited. They are irrelevant. Everyone forgot about them. If they're gonna try to capitalize on nostalgia, I don't think it's gonna work.

It seemed like the most appropriate thing was to let it die. Rooster Teeth is a relic from a bygone era of the internet.

It is a baffling and horrible decision. Bernie got out at a decent time to wipe his hands clean and never deal with it again. It's insane that he would pick up the wreckage and try to rebuild it. It would have been better to start a whole new company rather than deal with all of the baggage Rooster Teeth has gotten. It doesn't seem like any of his old coworkers are willing to help him either. I think this is more about proving the company he made isn't a failure rather than having a good business plan. He can't do machinima, because no one watches it anymore. He might be able to do comedy skits again. They were decent, but not enough to justify having a huge warehouse. Sketches like they did don't do too well on YouTube anyways. Podcasts are out of the question, since when Rooster Teeth split everyone made a podcast.
The only thing I can reasonably see, is if he did an animated show. I remember him being a good writer, and I do think he could make it work. With that comes massive overhead and a long time until completion. I'm fairly interested in what he will do, but not enough to follow myself. I'll see what I hear from the grapevine before giving him any attention.

Somnolence

I remember really liking the first 10ish seasons of Red Versus Blue (I seem to remember it ending with Tex's death and then they added a bunch of new other characters and storylines and I just couldn't get into it). RWBY seems like something I would have really loved to have gotten into when I was younger. Hard to get into it now, probably, but there hasn't been a better time for it, I guess.

These comebacks seem to often end up like The Escapist or G4, tragic shadows of their former selves. I didn't know it was Burnie himself taking the reins again, and maybe that's enough to revive it- but something tells me it's probably not. Screwattack itself is lost forever in licensing hell, but Stuttering Craig is still broadcasting almost every day on Sidescrollers to some success. It's certainly a lot more culture-war centric than it ever even could have been, but maybe that's what it takes for an old property to survive in today's day and age?

I really only saw FEAR PANICS from those guys. That was fun, but, like, not fun enough to make me check the rest of Rooster Teeth, so... guess I don't care much about'em.

Their podcast was good for a long time, but around 2016 it went to the dogs. After the election they announced that they were going to stop their "no politics" policy, and the podcast then had constant ranting about whatever political news was happening. One guy, Jack, would even go onto the set specifically to complain about things.
I didn't care about their anime things at all, most of the original letsplay guys moved on, and there were multiple scandals about people cheating on their wives with young fangirls and so on.
I guess Burnie got the IPs and properties on the cheap, I read somewhere that Warner Bros couldnt even find a buyer when they were closing it all down.

I'll second this. The podcast and Achievement Hunter were the best things about Rooster Teeth for a while. Jack was the worst for both, as he was someone that couldn't take a joke. He would get pissy when someone made fun of him, or rightfully pointed out he was being dumb. I stopped listening to the podcast around the Boston bombing. I can't imagine how much worse it got if they started to talk about politics.

I'm quite a big fan of Burnie and Morning Somewhere, and he seems to have reasonable expectations and a plan to keep things small for now. Optimism. Breathe.
