December 2024 and end of year Update
Christmas is fast approaching (too fast tbh) and i am very late with the update this month
There isn't a lot to say to be honest, so we'll pretend that the extended stay of the 2 year anniversary post as the sites main blogpost was intentional!
I got a bit carried away and have been working on something small*
*its not been small and ive spent maybe 3-4 days straight on it..
I have been working on a little alternative frontend for the forum. it is not feature complete but you can browse and post from it.
I probably should not have spent the time working on it but I felt inspired a little by some of our peers in the space.
Alternative more traditional forum frontend for sheepishpatio (a work in progress)
Currently this is running locally, not ready for release yet.
I've got the majority of the sites functionality working in this FE. Once I have tested it more and fixed some of the issues I will release/host the software as an option.
There is theme support, including this christmas theme (although it will not likely be ready for release before christmas ends.)
This has given me some more inspiration for other things that will be ideal and resolve some issues we have in the modern web. That's all I'll say for now. Just know that the ideas book has grown in size.
Forum backend is getting ready for the 2.0 release
As I've alluded to a few times, the software this forum is based on, 'flarum' has released their first public build of 2.0.
This software will not be released until likely the end of the year in a usable state, although if any of the features have updates compatible with our version I will try to use them.
