want to get into the holiday spirit and play some christmas kino, any recommendations? even rpg maker games and rom hacks would be nice

Had to think harder than I probably should've needed to. Mostly things I can think of are more like christmas events in games with real time clocks in, I did remember one game:

Christmas NIGHTS into dreams

Mini demo for NIGHTS on the saturn thats christmas themed. I think you can get it on PC as well in the HD version on steam.

Other games with christmas events and such i can recall off the top of my head:
Animal crossing (any): they have christmas themed events on the day and generally do a good winter vibe
Sonic Adventure: I remember the original on dreamcast changing its advertising boards in the hub world and such to christmas ones. I think same goes for the original Phantasy Star Online
Duke Nukem 3d: has an expansion called 'nuclear winter' which is vaguely christmas themed. I believe its not considered especially good though

I don't know any Christmas themed video games, but playing a wintery themed level on a platform would be a fun way to get into the spirit of Christmas. Off the top of my head, I'd put Freezeezy Peak from Banjo Kazooie.

It's not a Christmas game, but it is a wintry game: Frostpunk.

It's a city-builder survival game where the ambient temperature rises and falls. I only play it during chilly months, and sometimes I turn the heater off while I'm playing it to really get in the mood of the game. It's not cheerful, or merry, or bright, or about Christmas... But other than for two years in Canada, I haven't live in places that have gotten lots of snow. Frostpunk makes me feel wintry.
