how are you preparing for the coming heat?

now that its almost summer, how do you guys handle it? being someone whos lived all their lives in the heat(dry heat), its not really enjoyable but much nicer than when people talk about sticky climate, and or blizzards and snow days. What are you preferences to this season? you much more enjoy a brisk cold day than a warm toasty one? throw all your thoughts on this below!

frijole del alta the heat wave seems to be over for us on the west coast but still nicer weather. I think the weather calls for some cold lemonade and a smoke right at the moment.

It's silly but for me the "symbol" of summer is buying a no-brand pack of 50 popsicles.

I like hot weather! The only bad thing was sweating on public transport, but since a few years ago they all have air conditioning on all the time where I live.
Oh, and also that once-per-summer sudden ice storm but that might just be where I live.

I do not have an AC but I live under a lot of tree shade.

Fantasy what do you mean?? unless you live in europe or something. I heard they dont use those cause its not hot over there.

frijole del alta I live in the US. My house is just very old, it turned 100 2 years ago.
Never got AC added, it does luckily have radiators for the winter as they are needed.
Like I said though the sun isn't a huge deal since we live under very large trees.

I've lived in a really hot, sticky-humid climate before. i really never want to go back to any place like that, i love snow, i don't mind icy temperatures. it's always going to warm back up eventually (in my case) so i can look forward to that if i'm getting sick of winter. also it's easier to warm up than it is to cool back down. i can make a nice coffee, hot tea, buy some hot cocoa or something. summer isn't that bad either. i just really prefer every other time of year because there isn't really anything about the hottest times of year you can only enjoy during then... people can bring up the pool or the beach but, yeah that's the one thing really. even ice cream is pretty yummy in the winter.
lol not a summer hate post. i just really can't stand the fucking heat.

im more of a shower and enjoy the cool A/C inside while watching sports or something. although same could be said but with the heater toasty in the cold. summer nights are way more enjoyable than a winter night.

Summers here get to be really hot, like 113 degrees F hot. My wife and I just like to huddle in our bedroom together with the AC on, but I have a better one in my daughter’s room because she needs it more than we do.

If I had my way, every day would be 68 degrees (freedom units), partly cloudy, and with a stiff breeze.

I strongly dislike the heat. Way less now than I used to thanks to working a factory job for a while that had no climate control (and thus acclimating), but I still don't like it. I don't like sweating and when the mercury breaks 100 it's just hard to be productive. Still, as long as there's a nice breeze to go around and plenty of water it's not unbearable, but I'd take a cold winder day and a warm drink over a blistering summer one any day.

I think I speak for every introvert when I say that I prefer the cold and want to snuggle up alone with a blanket. HOWEVER I love ice cream. So hot weather does have that benefit.

Yes a fan is also the best part of the summer for sure. I cannot survive without a breeze

Porter I don't like the heat because you can only get so naked. You can take a cold shower but the relief lasts until you get dressed again. In the winter you can put on a sweater and a blanket and sit over the heat vent.

Also my kitten was peeing in my AC for months and I didn't know until I put it in.

with the cold, i feel like i have more control over the temperature. but if it's hot? yeah it's over for me. got one of those huge paint dryer fans just to move air around and keep things non-humid.

I live in a place with year-round average 82% humidity and consistent temperatures of 26-32 Celsius. It's pretty miserable to step outside of buildings.
In fact, our most impactful founding father said that air conditioning is one of the most important inventions for us heh.
I wish it was cooler here...

I live in a tropical climate and I hate it. The scenery doesn't change, its impossible to dress for this weather, there's no new activities, and I can't wait to move.

I come from a humid continental climate. That means I'm acquainted to all four seasons. You can enjoy the outdoor water sports in the summer. Once the summer becomes too sticky and bug-ridden, the fresh, cool and crisp air of autumn arrives with all its vibrant colors and cozy vibes. When the last leaf falls and the landscape begins to look morose, one can expect a blanket of fresh snow to lighten the mood for Christmas time and winter sports. And if winter becomes too dark and cold then .... well spring time kind of sucks but then there's summer again.

Maybe I'll try an arid climate for my next destination but tropical climates are out of the question. Give me seasons.

In my experience, running the AC a few hours at night to get the house cool, and some tactically positioned fans throughout the house is enough to stave off any major heat for basically the entire day so long as the windows/doors do not remain open for extended periods of time. Even not running the AC and using a fan to blow cool air from the basement to the main floor has done absolute wonders. I suppose if your house is in a bad position relative to the sun, like if you're in a direct path facing east or west this strategy may not benefit as much, but if you have an available basement, I'd give it a shot.

Having decent fans also helps. I swear by Air Innovations, personally.
