If a company has a history of censoring art then I'm less inclined to support them financially. I'm not much into console gaming anymore either when computers can play and emulate many games. Retro games hit different for me, and my backlog is huge.

Interestingly I saw something relating to the Denuvo DRM in (Dragons Dogma II specifically but it'll apply to any others. ), if you are using a Steam Deck / Linux with Proton, Denuvo will see each proton version as its own install, so if you switch proton versions too much you will hit your 'game install cap' and not be allowed to play the game.
For me thats enough to not buy the game

Out of curiosity, if the game has come to a platform you would prefer after being an Epic exclusive, would you not think that it would be better to get the game on that then not at all?
I think for Hades, the devs said the game couldnt have been made if not for the timed Epic exclusive deal and its money, but its on most other platforms now. It's not on GOG so I get it if you wanted to buy the game DRM free but if you're happy to buy on steam and you wanted the game, I don't see why you wouldnt buy it, even at a sale if you felt iffy about it. There may be some Epic Games lore im not aware of that'd make me agree but i'm curious to hear your thoughts

Hades is far from the only game which managed to make it because of deal with Epic. And, frankly, I find that it is complete absurd that people find Epic timed exclusive deal is a bridge too far, in an industry where games can be pre-ordered months before the release, where the released games are often unfinished, where Kickstarter scams are not that uncommon, where lootboxes and hats DLCs are made to squeeze every last penny out of your waller, et cetera - yet somehow it's Epic that drives people into boycotting games. Bah.
My only theory is that the whole deal is that those people are Steam fanboys, broken and shaped into the consumers loyal to the brand to such a point that they hate to see Valve's monopoly on video games' distribution contested.

Predatory DLCs. companies like EA are "boycotted" but because some of them seemed fun I'll rather sail the seven seas to get them. The Sims series, for example, especially The Sims 4 that's ridden with bugs since day one.
Frivolous artsy-fartsy games that have NPCs talk too much / with themes that seemed too pretentious to me.
Gacha games. idc what the weebs say, jpeg is just a jpeg and I won't let myself get addicted to it.

There has been mentions here about game developers censoring their own art in updates, which is terribly scummy thing to do. Nowadays, I was more and more turned off playing fighting games, which is sad.
This sounded petty but I could live without playing the games, Fandom and Playerbase being shit and obnoxious is one of the conditions that would turn me away from buying the game, or stop enjoying it.

Most new games pretty much, I hate the modern gaming industry and rarely like to contribute to it unless a notable piece of kino comes out.

I'm kind of on the same page as you. I sort of stopped focusing on games for a long while and only play titles I'm familiar with already.

Alot of the games today that are popular seem to be the lackluster pay to win stuff, which I guess would be my blacklist kind of game. kind of the reason I'm fine with just playing counterstrike source and not csgo(or 2 i think what its called now). I'm sure great games are still around, I just don't necessarily go out of my way to buy and play one unless it really interests me.

No more physical discs. No more going into the shop and getting a nice package of CD, physical manual and probably some other neat stuff.
Pretty much no more finished games on release. Even if devs do not slap "Early Access" on it, it is pretty much early access either way on every release, as you know you will get tons of patches for several years afterward. Most games today are stale and barely tested or outright "early access" with everything such a thing implies.
No more add-ons, as those has been replaced with DLCs. And DLCs are small, usually rather useless packages. A lot of times they are actually included in the game files to start with and you can just unlock them with a Steam Emulator or by manipulating the files in the other way. Back in the days when you went for additional content, you were buying something big, something that justified running another production with CDs and boxes and prints, so I had additional content like Bloodmoon or Tribunal for Morrowind, not some hats and textures.
That's just from the top of my head. I can write at least as much more, but, alas, it feels like preaching to the choir either way and it's all so tiresome.

I don't really boycott or blacklist things in their entirety, but there are devs that I avoid buying from because I'm just not the target audience. Those mostly consist of most games from modern Ubisoft/Santa Monica/Naughty Dog. I just really don't like what current Sony first-party/affiliated devs have become. But I'm in the minority since that's reflected in their sales.

I would also like to add a "flip-side" topic to this, as I always support games from Falcom and Nippon Ichi, and physical copies whenever possible. The phrase "vote with your wallet" is often misquoted as not purchasing something, but it really applies to supporting a product you like and would want more of.
