2023 Summer Films

There have been quite a few films out this year, with the summer especially bringing some big name films out.
Seems to me that there havent been many films that people I know have actually wanted to see.
Have you seen any films this year/summer?
So far I've watched Barbie and i'm planning on watching Oppenheimer and the new Mission Impossible later at some point
What did you think?

Fantasy

I watched barbie. It was better than I thought it was going to be. Oppenheimer is a maybe for me. I already understand the story of the nuclear bomb so the only thing that will surprise me in it is hollywood lies to make a better movie.

Fimm

I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie.
I give it 3.6. Not great not terrible. It was afun action movie but doesn't live up to the epic quality of the original trilogy. Definitely going to watch it again on tv when it airs.

Next I'm going to see Oppenheimer today.
I don't know anything about the Manhattan Project, and I've been satisfied with Christopher Nolan's consisntent quality so I'm really excited to see it.

I have watched the Barbie movie and I'd like to go watch Oppenheimer too.
The Barbie movie was pretty fun in the first part, but it became atrociously boring in the second half because the characters wouldn't stop talking about feminism and the patriarchy and le men bad. 5/10.

I saw Asteroid City, and thought it was decent. The meta narrative was really interesting and added a second layer of depth to each performance. The whole movie looks like a rockwell painting. Overall, worth seeing for the visuals and surreal story.

I watched oppenheimer and I quite enjoyed the historical context of physics at that time, when quantum mechanics was seen as an innovative new model for describing fundamental particles.
Some truly astonishing progress has been made over the last few centuries and I think that aspect was well retraced in the movie along the political context.
