Fantasy

I was born into a Lutheran family. Was pushed on me from birth and I pushed away. I was never confirmed even though my older siblings were. I don't struggle with religion in any way. I accept it for what it is and even bring up a few of the teachings I learned as a kid. I do not follow the faith but I don't reject it outright as I once did. Which is perfectly okay, Lutheranism isn't really about devoting yourself to God. You're basically just told to enjoy life there's no repercussions for any sinning you may do in life all is forgiven regardless of what you do, and I think that's nice.

I have really appreciated learning about the ideas of hesychasm. Im not an orthobro, but I really appreciate the time spent in contemplative prayer. I love the Jesus prayer. I think it is a tradition that many western christians can learn from.

I have not gone in nearly three years because I kept moving around. Like Yukari said it has some fantastic concepts for connecting with divine. The history is what makes it hard. The Old Testament just has so much anti-historical content that it draws someone like me out of it. The New Testament is defensible and mystical but the OT does not feel like either one of those things, aside from a few good books. Should I go back anyways?

I do miss the people.
